Icarus sank in the dark waters submerging the gates of hell in the veil of shadows. Before he reached the bottom and was caught by the grabby hands of the damned like Lucifer had planned, he was picked up by Anubis who gated back to dry land.
Anubis drops him in the sand as soon as they pop out back in the desert. Icarus coughs up the water as he gasps for air, bending his knees to carry his body back up. Anubis begins impatiently pacing back and forth in front of him, wiping the water off his eyes.
"Icarus! What the hell is going on down there!? How did Lucifer get free!?"
He may be unable to enter the living world or see beyond the veil, but Lucifer was a big enough deal for him to sense his malice. Icarus doesn't answer his question though, he instead asks, "Where is Hadraniel?".
