We were ready, everything was packed, Dragan was all ready to go, and I was still packing up some things, The Grimalkin had made a sort of sheath for his big-ass sword he used to carry around. It wasn't a sword more like a lance with a big pointy end.
I suddenly heard feet shuffling from the corridor where we were staying, I could tell it wasn't Dragan. I pretended it was.
"Hey did you forget something?"
"It's me," said Neso appearing in front of me.
"Sorry, I thought you were Drag…"
I couldn't finish. His face looked like he was about to cry.
"You're leaving today…" it was weird seeing such a big cat with teary eyes, and over me no less, I was flattered.
I ran up and buried my face in his furry chest.
"You can't cry," I said. He was visibly startled, his fur standing on end. He muttered words, but nothing came out.
I let go. His tail was wagging, and he had a dumbfounded facial expression.
"No one has shown me such unbothered attention," he said in a sweet voice.
"It's okay, I'll come back, maybe someday, or we'll meet again, you never know what fate has in store for us," I said.
"I hope you do," he said.
"Me and my brother, we owe you our lives, if it wasn't for you, we would still be held captive under Zomearon's control,"
"You're brother was under his control too? Why didn't I never know about this?"
"He wouldn't show it, I was his main pawn, but for Zomearon, Kuro was a lot easier to control under the influence of the void, Kuro would let the madness control him, not the other way around,"
I gave him a moment of silence, and he continued.
"When we were little, Zomearon appeared in our lives, and took the village under his command, in the process Kuro tried to defy him, but for Zomearon, it was child's play, I bargained with him, to take me instead of my brother, but he refused and forced us both to fly under his will, with the promise of power. We were forced to evolve with his will.
"If you were forced, why didn't you go back to being your old selves when I managed to release you from the void grasp,"
"With everything that's going around the village, and the elders on their last leg, Kuro and I decided we would like to stay in this form, I believe there's a link there, we both must want to go back," he explained.
"I don't mind being like this, I had lots of fun with you and Dragan, he was a great help with the fields, and now with your power, we have something to barter with…"
There was another long pause.
"If you don't mind," he started. "Would it be all right for Kuro and I to call you Master,"
"Oh," I got a little uncomfortable. "I'm not sure about that one," I explained.
"How about professor then? Sensei would that be okay?"
I liked that one a lot better.
"That one, I like,"
"All right, then, professor, thanks for everything, once again I must thank you in the name of my brother and me, and the whole village is in your debt as well, now then shall we depart to the esplanade, everyone is waiting.
I gobbled up my suitcase.
"That we shall," I said. And we made haste towards the place where we had first entered the Grimalkin village.
