Chapter 40: The Saviour
[Lina]
Everything was going wrong. Terribly wrong.
Lina, desperate to save Jin from the monster's grasp, swung her blade with all her might. Each slash was fueled by sheer determination, but her lungs burned, and her limbs trembled from exhaustion.
"Let him go! Let him go!" Lina's voice cracked as she screamed at the top of her lungs, her plea filled with desperation.
But no matter how many rats she slayed, new ones quickly took their place in an endless cycle of relentless onslaught.
Lina's eyes turned bloodshot with rage and anguish as she witnessed Jin, his body ravaged by the monster's grip, blood pouring from his mouth. Her heart sank, and time seemed to slow to a crawl.
It was a nightmare, the longest second of her life, as she strained her eyes on Jin, his consciousness slipping away, consumed by the swarm of rats.
