Lucien shut the door and moved closer to the King. "Father, I do not understand what is going on or why I am being accused of trying to harm my brother, but I can assure you, I did no such thing."
"Liar!" Zarek yelled from behind him. "You intentionally rocked the boat and I fell in!"
Lucien's eyes widened in surprise. So this was what all this drama was about. Zarek was angry that he did not jump in to save him.
"Zarek, you have yourself to blame for almost drowning today. And I will not allow you to force the blame on me," Lucien replied. "I warned you severally not to do anything stupid just to win the race, did I not? You were the reason we lost the race today!"
"Because of a race, you tried to drown him?" Lucretia snarled, her eyes burning with pure hatred that made Lucien's skin crawl.
"I would never do anything to hurt Zarek!"
"And yet you did," she retorted.
"Zarek tried to cheat to win the race…"
