Chapter 45 - CHAPTER 45(REFLECTIONS)

I lay on my bed, contemplating the battle between me and my sister. I could tell she didn't really give it her all in that battle. After all, if that was all she could do, there's no way she would have been given the title of best assassin-class fighter in our generation. Also, my abilities were a natural counter to her attacks, my lightning could break down her mist and repel her blades. Assassins mostly fought in short, explosive bursts of speed, which was countered by my high defense and speed. But overall, I could tell that if she really put her heart into it, she would have defeated me.

I got off my bed. All of that had happened two days ago, and I had to prepare. The tournament was still ongoing, and I had to be present, today was the finals. I shot a small bolt of lightning through the keyhole in my door, eliciting a yelp from Janet, who was trying to peep through. Then, I stretched and headed for the bathroom.

BOOOOOOMM!

A cloud of dust erupted on the stage. Explosions continued to rock the stage and cover it with dust, only for the dust to clear up later. It was a battle between an earth mage and a wind mage. The winner would move on to the finals. I had to give it to the wind mage - he was really good. Most wind mages are put at a disadvantage in fights like this, where killing the opponent is against the rules. That's why most of them only participate in tournaments that involve team battles, as wind can also be used for utility or support, but this guy proved everyone wrong.

Dragons require a large amount of energy to function in their daily lives, and one of those sources of energy is oxygen, of course. The mage used his extraordinary control over wind to limit the amount of oxygen available to his opponent. Sounds easy, right? But it's not. There are many gases and other substances in the air around us, so imagine having to sort through all of them just to find oxygen - and in large amounts, no less. It takes more than pure talent to do something like that. It requires intense training and determination.

The earth mage continued to throw frenzied attacks, probably hoping to hit the wind mage with one of them and make him lose his focus. But the wind pressure around the wind mage caused the rocks to fracture and break apart without him even moving. Looking closely, the guy seemed to have been chanting a spell for a while now. I wonder what kind of spell he's summoning this time. For someone to use such modern knowledge in this place, I wonder how much time he has spent studying wind and its effects.

SHIVER!!!

' why is it so cold all of a sudden ' I thought

A surge of cold wind, flooded the whole place, I looked around me and saw everything experiencing the same feeling of coldness I was feeling, I looked around searching for the source of coldness, it can't be the wind mage right, i looked to the stage and my eyes nearly bulged as a layer of ice began to form over the earth mage's skin. The guy was trying to replicate the effects of frost bite

' Damn, the match is over ' I thought

[SOPHIE'S PERSPECTIVE]

"Where is Jenna being held?" I queried the demon-like entity before me.

"I've already told you, creep, I don't know," the demon replied, its eyes burning with hatred.

"Very well, allow me to rephrase my question," I said, making my intent to kill obvious as my eyes glowed a crimson hue. "Please divulge to me the location of Jenna's confinement."

The demon swallowed hard, but its expression remained resolute.

" I already told you, I don't... aaaarghh!"

[ ANYA'S PERSPECTIVE]

In my thousands of years of existence, I have seen many girls come and go. Some have been powerful and immortal, others have been mortal and weak. But I have never seen girls quite like these five. There was something special about them, something that reminded me of a time long ago. Back then, I knew a young man named Damian, and he had a group of friends who were just as unique and talented as these girls.

Emma, Sophia, Lena, Sophie, and Jenna. They all seemed so familiar, like reincarnations of people I had known in the past. But what really intrigued me was Jenna.

Emma, the demigoddess of energy. Sophia, the demigoddess of souls. Lena, the demigoddess of crimson light. Sophie, who couldn't use magic even after becoming an avatar. In her search for strength, she began to dabble in something the mortals had come up with, technology, and later on, invented the technomancer class and became the demigoddess of technology. This time, she came back as one of her own creations, Diana, who died while undergoing her ascension tribulation. But where did Jenna fit into all of this?

An image of a majestic dragon battling a nine-tailed fox flashed in my mind. Could it be?

Someone brought to my attention that all my characters feel the same when I narrate from their perspective. I'm not sure how I didn't notice it before, but I'm working on correcting that issue. I want to encourage my readers to comment if they notice anything in the story that doesn't feel right, so I can make the necessary changes. Thank you for your understanding and support.
