Chapter 31 - CHAPTER 31

"Mages, launch your spells! Ranged classes, follow up and take out the disoriented enemy! Knights, advance! Other close combat classes, behind them! Move your asses, NOW!" a middle-aged man barked out orders.

The town was being attacked by bandits from the nearest bandit towns. The bandit army was about four times the size of the town's.

"Those of you with useless classes like thief and the likes, select one among you to inform the Lord about this!" the man shouted.

The town's archers began to fire on the encroaching army. The magic users began to conjure spells to aid them. The knights gathered at the front of the town, ready to defend it with their lives.

Spells, arrows, bullets, and all kinds of projectiles flew through the air as a battle began on the ground. The town's army held the advantage at first due to being on home ground. They used the terrain to their advantage. Due to living there for most of their lives, they knew all the strategic points to make use of. Their town was also located towards the west, while the enemy was coming from the east, making it easier for projectiles to hit them.

Their advantage was momentary, though. The bandits continued to push through with their numbers, killing their way through the close combat fighters.

"Hey, useless classes, I thought I asked you guys to call the Lord!" the man turned toward the group behind the mages, looking down on them condescendingly.

The bandits continued to push through, killing more and more of the town's troops and getting closer to the wall.

"Close combatants, retreat!

"Close combatants, retreat! We'll make our last stand on the walls while we wait for the Lord," the man shouted.

The close combatants retreated through the town, using the knowledge of the terrain to outmaneuver the bandits and make it to the walls.

"I'll hold them here," the man said, looking down at the approaching bandits.

"Old Cain, are you so cowardly as to call your troops back from battle, putting all your hopes on one man?" a person shouted from behind the bandit army. His entire armor was entirely made of gold, with a sleek design. Intricate drawings depicting roaring dragons and other mythical creatures were beautifully carved all over the armor.

"Silence!" old man Cain shouted. "You unfilial disciple of mine, how dare you run from home and return as the boss of such a vile group as bandits? You're nothing but a disgrace to our technomancer class!"

"What are you blabbering about, old man?" the armored man replied.

"Didn't you teach me to carve my own path for myself?" the armored man asked.

"Of course I did," old man Cain replied, raising a brow. "But I never imagined you would choose such a path."

"It's the best way for a man to gain wealth without having to work his ass off for it," the armored man said, raising his hands as if he'd received divine inspiration.

Old man Cain glared at him. "And what about your honor? Your integrity? All of that means nothing to you, is that it?"

"Honor and integrity are useless if you're poor and starving," the armored man replied with a grin. "I'm not like you, old man. I know how to get what I want, no matter the cost."

"I see," Cain's face darkened. "I guess I'd have to beat some sense into you, like I've always done."

" If you have the ability "

[Techno Armor]

Old Cain chanted, and his body became covered in an armor similar to Tom's, only less extravagant. They both charged at each other, and then...

"Enough!"

The sound of a metal rod hitting something hard resounded throughout the entire battlefield. Everyone turned towards the sound to see an old man with a long beard, holding a staff, surrounded by ten young people.
