Chapter 10 - CHAPTER TEN

It is with great excitement that I announce the battle between two of our first-year students, Draxus the challenger ranked 250 in the first year ranking board and Damian his opponent ranked 286. The crowd roars as the two of us enter the arena, our eyes fixed on each other, Draxus with determination and focus and me with a fake bored look in my eyes. The referee steps forward to issue the rules: no use of power increasing items, no form of external help is allowed, no attacks aimed to end your opponents life is allowed and the battle ends when one of the combatants yields or is unable to continue. The two of us nod in understanding and take our places at opposite ends of the arena.

The referee raises his hand, signaling the start of the battle. The crowd is buzzing with anticipation, but I remain calm and focused. My opponent, Draxus, stands tall and confident, his eyes burning with determination. The referee drops his hand, and the battle begins. I raise my arms, focusing my energy and summoning a huge bolt of lightning that strikes down on Draxus.

The lightning bolt strikes with force, and the ground shakes as the energy courses through the arena. Draxus is caught off guard by the attack, and is knocked to the ground by the force of the impact. He slowly gets back to his feet, his eyes now filled with anger.

As Draxus rises to his feet, he gathers all of his energy, preparing to unleash a blast of fire from his mouth. I see the flames building up in his throat, and I know I need to act fast. I raise my hands, and with all of my focus, I cast a wall of ice in front of me. Just as Draxus unleashes his blast of fire, the wall of ice blocks the flames, leaving me unharmed.

As the wall of ice dissolves, I cast another spell. In an instant, a wave of frost ripples across the ground, quickly freezing everything in its path. Draxus stumbles backward, slipping on the slick surface. Before he can regain his balance, I cast a second spell, this one aimed directly at him. A bolt of lightning flies toward Draxus, catching him off guard and throwing him back several feet. He hits the ground hard, but quickly rises to his feet, a look of rage on his face.

As Draxus hits the ground from Damian's last attack, he seems more enraged than ever. He opens his wings and glares at me and saying in a booming voice: "You ignorant pest, you underestimate the might of dragons. How dare you battle with me without summoning your main power source?" His aura seems to shift, growing darker and more powerful.

As Draxus has recovered from my last attack, he raises his hand and a ball of fire begins to form in his palm. He throws the fireball, and it flies toward me at an incredible speed. I raise my hands and cast a spell of my own. A wall of ice appears in front of me, and the fireball impacts the wall, sizzling and hissing as it comes into contact with the ice. The wall begins to melt and crack under the force of the fireball, but it seems to be holding for the moment.

As the ice wall begins to melt, I raise my hand and cast another spell. A swirling vortex of wind begins to form, gathering speed and power. The wind swirls around the fireball and the ice wall, causing the fireball to disperse and the ice wall to shatter. With the defenses neutralized, the wind vortex flies toward Draxus, its speed and force growing stronger as it goes.

Draxus takes flight, staying just out of reach of the swirling vortex. He then unleashes a massive burst of flame towards me. As the burst of flame approaches, I dive out of the way, rolling to the side and quickly getting back to my feet. The flames scorch the ground where i was standing, but i manage to avoid taking any damage. I focuses my magic, preparing to counterattack.

A magic circle appears in front of me, and the ice spikes begin to shoot out at high speed. They fly towards the dragonoid, aiming for his wings, hoping to disable his ability to fly.

The ice spikes move in on the dragonoid's wings and tail, and he tries to evade them, but he's not quick enough. They pierce his wings, causing him to howl in pain. He falls to the ground only to be met by an explosion of ki. He remains on the ground breathing heavily as the referee declares my win.
