Adrian's POV
The smell of burning rubber, motor oil, and the exhausts from different bikes that are scattered around the parking garage filled the air as I took a deep breath, relishing in the smell that always seems to make my heart pound in excitement and adrenaline course through my veins.
"Wolf! You're up next so get ready! " The person I'm assuming organized this event yelled out - probably making the girls under his arms deaf.
Simply nodding in response, I mounted my baby– a beautiful matte black 2018 Kawasaki Ninja H2 SX– not an actual baby 'cause that would be weird.
Roaring loud like thunder as I brought her to life, just before I could kick off and head to the starting line I felt a small hand grab my arm. The small hand belonged to my little sister Jade as she looked up at me with her bright amber eyes that look just like moms'.
"Be careful alright? The guy you're up against likes to play dirty so keep an eye out… Jake and I will be waiting at the finish. I love you! "
"Love you too, see you in a bit, munchkin, " I ruffled her hair, ignoring the dangers she shot my way at the nickname.
Before she could curse me out, I took off toward the starting line high-fiving Jake as I drove past him. Jake is my best friend and two years older than me. He's a bit of a player but an all-around good guy– that is– If you look past his body count. I don't know what most girls see in him though… Maybe it's his boyish charms 'cause he looks eighteen even though he's 23.
"Well look who took their sweet time getting to the front, what's wrong Wolf? Are you scared? Don't worry I'll go easy on you kid! "
The guy I'm up against tried to sound intimidating, but if I'm being honest he just sounded like an idiot. Rolling my eyes I pulled down my visor, deciding I wasn't going to acknowledge stupid people today. I guess he didn't like that though because he just kept nitpicking, calling me a pussy, and all this other stupid shit trying to get a reaction out of me- which still didn't work until he brought my underage sister into it.
"Who was that hot piece of ass you brought with you? Maybe after I kick your ass I'll take her home and-"
"Are you done? 'cause if you are, I'd like to get this race started so I can go home and sleep, " I crossed my arms over my chest in annoyance, smirking a bit when I saw how he flinched at the sound of my voice.
I'll be the first to admit that my voice doesn't match my face, but what can you do? Genetics, am I right?
"yeah, yeah, whatever man! I'm still gonna kick your ass! "
Keep telling yourself that buddy…
Pressing play on my headphones, continuing to ignore Mr. dumbass. 'Achuu' by Kspizz began playing as I zoned out from my surroundings, focusing on the race ahead. I rolled my eyes as I watched the flag girl step in front of us, wearing nothing but a bright pink bikini top and jean underwear. I'm surprised she can even walk with those 9" stripper heels she's wearing.
Leaning forward, I revved my engine at the same time kicking up my bike stand, waiting for the flag to drop. I didn't pay any attention to the flirty looks the girl was giving me as she explained the rules of the race. One, I'm not interested and Two, I've been doing this long enough to know what I'm doing.
Rules of racing:
1. No foul play (tampering with opponents' bikes)
2. No knocking opponents off their bikes during the race (kicking, pushing, etc.)
3. No weapons allowed
4. No betting on yourself
5. Have fun, don't die
As soon as the flag dropped and the race began, the sound of screeching tires echoed throughout the building and I'm sure it could be heard from miles away.
I decided to hang back and let the dumbass from earlier think that he and his trash dirtbike were winning. I'll overtake him in the final turn, this way I can keep an eye on him and how he handles his bike.
It's only been five minutes and I already want to speed past him im so bored.
This idiot keeps zigzagging from one side of the road to the other, looking back at me with a smug shit-eating grin like he was accomplishing something– when in reality he was making a fool out of himself. Again.
He's gonna crash if he keeps looking back like that…
This moron's not even wearing a helmet…
Having enough of his tomfoolery, I sped around him while he wasn't paying attention, overtaking him in seconds. I couldn't help but chuckle at the irony as the song 'Move Bitch' by Ludacris began playing through my headphones.
My brows furrowed in confusion as I watched him through my side mirrors. he had pulled out something from his pocket and brought it up to his lips, I was too far ahead to see what it was though.
"That son of a bitch!"
Realization hit me like a truck as I watched a small group of people running out of an alleyway that was just ahead. The bottom half of their faces are covered with bandanas and they're carrying metal bats and crowbars in their hands.
So he was signaling his buddies huh?...
Fuck, what am I supposed to do now?
Frantically looking around, I quickly came to the conclusion that the street was too narrow for me to go around them so I guess the only way I have left is through.
I hope this works 'cause otherwise, I'm screwed…
Instead of slowing down, I sped up– catching a couple of the guys ahead off guard as they backed up. The other guys didn't budge though, instead, they raised their bats and crowbars getting ready to swing at me like they were playing baseball or something.
I kept speeding forward until I was close enough, counting down the seconds until I would execute my plans.
Sorry baby, this is gonna hurt…
Three…
Two…
One…
NOW!
My front tire lifted from the ground as I expertly balanced on my back tire, successfully separating the crowd just enough to slip through, wincing just a bit as I heard the sound of a crowbar making contact with the bottom of my bike making a mental note to kick the ass of the person who hurt my baby.
I reveled in the sound of their angry screams as I slipped past them and continued forward, making one final turn before crossing the finish line. Riding Through the crowd that had formed in the time since the race had begun, I searched for Jake and my sister, finding them standing next to their bikes in the back of the empty parking lot of the mall, a proud smile on both of their faces.
"Congrats bro, I knew you could do it!" Jade yelled, hugging me as I dismounted from my bike, but I was in no mood to celebrate. If anything I'm pissed.
Not wanting to lash out at her, I gently pushed her off of me- taking off my helmet in the process. She seemed hurt by the action, but as soon as she saw my face she knew something was wrong and her face morphed into a deadly glare that sent a chill down my spine. She may be my little sister– but she scares me sometimes.
For good reason too.
I once watched her beat the shit out of her ex-girlfriend's car with a sledgehammer after finding out she cheated on her with my sister's ex-boyfriend while they were still together.
Yes, my sister is bisexual, and anyone who has a problem with that can go fuck themselves 'cause there's nothing wrong with how- or who- she loves and I love her. As long as she's safe, she can date whoever she wants be it a boy or a girl.
"What happened?" Jake asked, crossing his arms after seeing both of our dark expressions.
"Sonuvabitch had people hiding in the alley waiting to ambush me! One of them hit my baby!" I growled, getting angrier by the second as I crouched down checking on the damage that bastard caused.
Luckily it wasn't too much damage, just a dent on one of my exhaust pipes. An easy fix, but it's just the fact that there's any damage at all that irks me.
"Awww, what's the matter, Wolf? Did something happen to that precious little bike of yours? Maybe you should be careful next time…"
This motherfucker…
Rising off the ground slowly with clenched fists and jaw, I took a step toward my so-called opponent, who was still talking shit even though he just lost. My 6'1" stature towered over his 5'5" frame and I watched as he visibly paled, staring up into my slitted eyes that pierced through his soul.
If only looks could kill…
"Big talk coming from the little bitch that lost, even after you cheated! " I seethed, clenching and unclenching my fists wanting nothing more than to beat the living shit out of this douchebag. But I can't.
Stupid rules…
"Whoa, hey! What's going on over here?" the one overseeing the race yelled, gaining the attention of the people that now surrounded us.
I think his name is Adam or something like that. I don't know…
I really need to start remembering things like that…
"You know the rules, no fighting is permitted during the races! Otherwise, it's an automatic loss and you'll be kicked out of the circuit." he scolded us like we were small children
"Yeah well, there wouldn't be a problem if this fucktard– didn't cheat!" I yelled, poking said fucktards chest with my finger.
"Is this true Maurice? And you better not lie because this isn't the first time I've heard complaints about you," he crossed his arms over his chest, raising his left brow. The small duffle bag full of my winnings hung loosely off his shoulder.
"No! And even if I did, you couldn't prove it!" the dickhead- I now know as Maurice- screeched, sounding more like a toddler throwing a tantrum than the grown-ass adult he is.
I smirked, motioning for either Jade or Jake to grab the GoPro that I have attached to the front of my bike for situations like this.
"you wanna bet? Because this camera says otherwise," a shit-eating grin formed on my face as Jade placed the camera in my hand.
"Let me see that," Adam reached over, grabbing the small device from my hand, and jerked away when Maurice tried snatching it from his hands.
"If you didn't cheat, then you have nothing to worry about! So why are you trying to take this from me?"
Maurice didn't say a word, his face turning a deep shade of red in a mixture of anger and embarrassment.
"well would you look at that! Wolf was telling the truth! Here you go, man." Adam handed me my camera and the duffle bag.
Grumbling a small thanks I turned and was about to walk towards my bike when Adam stopped me again.
"Before you leave though, what's the damage I'll pay for it." he started reaching for his wallet, but I only waved him off not wanting his money.
"Don't worry about it brother, it's an easy fix. They only dented one of my exhaust pipes– no biggie. Appreciate it though."
I shook his hand, turned around, and hopped on my bike. Jake and my sister followed suit and we left immediately after. And I'm glad we did because the cops arrived just as we left the parking lot.
...…
Other than the sound of the engines, the ride back home was silent. That is- until my sister started laughing like a maniac, Jake joining her shortly after.
"DID YOU SEE THE LOOK ON THAT FUCKERS FACE WHEN YOU PULLED OUT THE CAMERA! IT WAS AWESOME!" Jade yelled as she pulled up next to me on her bike that was the same make as mine, only hers is white, not black.
"YEAH, HE LOOKED LIKE HE WAS ABOUT TO SHIT HIMSELF!" Jake chimed in, pulling up next to me on the other side. so now I was riding in the middle as we continued down the street. His bike is a deep purple 2019 Kawasaki Z1000.
We continued like that for the next hour. riding side by side and every once in a while one or the other would speed ahead, just overall screwing around.
"Hey, what's that?!" Jade asked motioning ahead of us toward– what looked to be a young girl wandering down the street in the middle of nowhere.
What the hell?...
"Should we pull over to see if she's okay?!" Jake asked, concerned for the young girl.
I nodded, pulling over a little bit behind the girl, who noticed had stopped walking just before we pulled over.
"Stay here, we don't know if this is some sort of trap. " I instructed, both of them nodding in response as I hopped off my bike.
As I walked closer I noticed that the girl wasn't even paying attention to me, she was too busy frantically looking around like she was looking for a place to hide.
"Are you alright?" I asked, lightly placing my hand on her shoulder.
I was expecting her to be scared at first– I mean I would be too if I had a big dude suddenly grab me while I was walking alone in the middle of nowhere. what I wasn't expecting, however, was for her to curse me out as she hit me in the arm.
Damn, she's tiny but she packs a mean punch.
