This is bad. Such poor communication. "Why are you only saying this now?" Helena asked in disbelief. She felt unhappy that Ethan had hidden such an important matter from her. "Why didn't you tell me earlier?"
Ethan smiled heavily. He tightly held Helena's hand and said, "If I had told you earlier, would you have let go of this project? Letting things remain the same as before the intercity gate was discovered?"
Helena fell silent, staring at Ethan in despair. "So, was that the meaning behind your previous question? Asking me to choose between you … or my success?" Helena asked with a bewildered gaze.
Ethan nodded slowly. Silence filled the now-empty kitchen space. No one would break the silence.
"Enough, Helena, in every meeting, there will always be partings," Ethan said, trying to sound resolute. "This is the end of our meeting."
