Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: The Eden Laise Hotel

Pillars of the City had been invited to a prestigious annual event to recognize their invaluable contribution to community development. For people of high status and social standing, it was an affair that should not be missed. Asides from recognition, it was an opportunity to flaunt their expensive clothing and pieces of jewelry. The scene was similar to movie actors and actresses walking down the runway at the Oscars.

Adding to the prestige of the event is the elegance of the venue. Eden Laise Hotel is frequented by the rich and powerful who could afford its expensive rates. The hotel front has a well-maintained garden with blue flowers and high-value ornamentals. It was a touch of paradise. Much more outstanding is the hotel entrance. It was like entering a palace. It had a grand, exquisite chandelier hanging above and two intricately designed curved stairs that converged to the entrance of the higher floor. The design was mesmerizing. It was as if the sight was cut out from a fairytale movie.

The distinguished guests started to arrive. The parking attendants were astonished by the number of luxury cars present all at one time.

Earlier that day, the head and founder of Lead Life Foundation called Mark to request him to attend the prestigious event on his behalf. He was not feeling well and needed to be admitted to the hospital. Mark felt uneasy because he knew the kind of people attending the event. However, he did not have a choice. He just thought to himself, "Maybe it would be a great chance to persuade people to become benefactors." He delighted himself with the idea of bringing in more support for the programs that badly needed funding.
