Nathaniel hadn't uttered a word since Jay and Clark told him about what they had learned.
Information about their investigation on Marisa was the last thing he expected people to go after.
Marisa was a nobody to most, she only honestly mattered to Nathaniel and that bastard of a husband of hers. Why would people go after information about her?
"Did we learn anything about the would-be thief?" Nathaniel asked as the train sped past them.
"We are having him followed now," Clark informed him. "He is an independent contractor with no ties to the underworld."
"Whoever set him up knew," Nathaniel hissed.
"Knew what?" Jay asked.
There were still some things that Nathaniel hadn't told Jay. Some parts of his identity he kept buried deep down because he feared how his friend would react if he knew.
"He knew how strong Nathaniel's grip on the underworld actually is," Clark calmly explained as they got into the train.
