'Was he too upfront?' Nathaniel worried to himself as he watched Maya in silence.
He didn't intend for this date to be this way. He wanted to simply enjoy a romantic dinner, hopefully getting her to fall deeply in love with him.
"I hope that wasn't too pushy," Nathaniel told Maya as he finally released her hand and rang the bell for the waiters to serve them the next course of their meal.
"No," Maya answered in a weak voice as she retracted her hand and place it on her lap.
It was clear to Nathaniel that she was still distracted, that there were still many thoughts swimming in her head as the waiters arrived and cleared their plates to serve the main dish.
