Nathaniel watched as Maya left with her friend, he recognized her as Celia Nichols, Maya's oldest and dearest friend.
"You two got history?" Katerina asked as she stood next to Nathaniel.
He sighed and shook his head, "No, but something does seem off. She might still be mad at me for leaving Maya five years ago, or she's hiding something."
Katerina nodded as she left Nathaniel and walked over to the counter to pay for the toy she purchased for her son.
Nathaniel couldn't help but frown as he followed her. He wondered why Celia acted so weirdly when he asked about the child for whom the toy was. Maybe she had a child and didn't want people to know about it.
"I'm no threat, stop glaring at me," Katerina flat-out told someone as Nathaniel found his way to the counter.
To his surprise, it was Celia that Katerina was speaking to, and behind her was Maya, desperately trying to calm her friend down.
