The rest of the drive to the mall was quiet and awkward.
Maya was left to ponder on Celia's question, she wasn't the only one that had been keeping a secret from Nate, Jay had been too.
Jay Woods was the person that Nate trusted the most outside of his new circle. From what Maya had seen, Nate had gone as far as promoting Jay to a position close to the CEO of DLR Enterprises.
She had seen Jay multiple times with the CEO's assistant, Clark Thomas.
"We're here," Celia announced, pulling Maya from her thoughts.
"Oh," she simply said as she slid out of the car.
Celia noticed that her friend was distracted, so she quickly looped Maya's arm in hers and guided her inside.
At a distance, several plain-clothed bodyguards followed them.
Maya was thankful that they didn't stay close to them or that they weren't in suits and uniforms, it seemed that Nate and her Grandfather had seriously considered her comfort.
