Chapter 49 - A Trap

Maya tried her best to focus on work, it had been days since her grandfather, Carlton Miller, had been rushed to the hospital after a heart attack. 

She had gone every day but she couldn't help but worry when she was away. 

"Are you even getting enough sleep?" Celia asked as she rolled over to Maya's desk on her office chair. 

"I—" Maya yawned before she could even finish her statement, "am"

"Clearly you aren't," her friend grumbled, rolling her eyes as Maya's phone began to ring. 

Maya quickly scrambled to sit straight and check her phone, the screen flashed with her grandfather's name making a look of worry spread on her face. 

"I need to take this," she said as she paled, picking up her phone and answering the call in a rush. 

"Grandpa?" Maya asked, her voice laced with worry. 

"Ah, Maya!" the old man exclaimed in a surprisingly energetic tone. "I hope I'm not interrupting you at work."
