Nathaniel held Maya's hand tightly as he led her out of the restaurant, bidding goodbye to Uncle Rai.
"Don't forget to come back, okay!" the man called out as he waved at them. "Five years is too long to miss our favorite customers."
Nathaniel nodded and chuckled.
He didn't want to make promises, but he swore that if he and Maya got back together he would take her there more often.
As they left, Uncle Rai changed the sign of his store back to open and waved a few waiting guests so that they could enter.
"Who were those people, Uncle Rai?" A young woman asked as she carried a child in her arms.
"Oh, my best customers from years back," Uncle Rai chuckled as he watched the couple turn a corner. "I thought they broke up, but I guess some things can be mended."
The young girl woman nodded and smiled.
"That's a nice story," she praised.
