Nathaniel paled at the news as he felt the world around him vanish.
"Nathaniel, what did Ryan say?" Maya asked him as she placed a hand on his shoulder. She had been sitting silently on the side, helping when she could.
"A— a— are you sure?" Nathaniel managed to ask as soon as he gathered himself.
"I am, I'm sorry, Nathaniel," Ryan said in a grave tone.
"I believe you," three words that Nathaniel knew would set things into motion. "I need to talk to your sister, I need to find a way to get a hold of him, I need to get a plan into motion—"
"You don't need to have to do it alone," Ryan said, his tone sincere as he cut Nathaniel off mid-sentence.
Nathaniel hadn't known what to say, he was stunned by Ryan speaking like that.
"Max is on his way," he heard Alyssa call out in the background.
"Alyssa," Nathaniel said, clearing his throat. "Alyssa is with you in the room?"
"She is," Ryan confirmed.
