Nathaniel was too stunned to move, let alone speak as his adoptive mother, Clarisse Rue confessed that she had been in love with the much younger Michael De La Rue.
"H— h— h— how?" it was the former family matriarch, Adeline, who managed to speak. It seemed that Clarisse had kept this fact from Adeline, whom she had slowly gotten close to.
To say this was a development was an understatement.
This fact started to shed light as to how Clarisse knew who Nathaniel was and why Michael had insisted on going to Arlington when it was so far away from Vertis City. Its population wasn't even big enough to hide two young men who would have stuck out so badly when they arrived.
