"They are disgusting," Maya spat as she looked at her assistant.
Katlin had just finished recounting to her the multiple incidents wherein she and several female employees of Nathaniel were harassed and attacked.
"Nathaniel is the richest and most powerful man in the country, some women will stop at nothing and some families would threaten their own flesh and blood just so those women would try to be his mistress," Adeline told Maya.
At the mention of what families made their daughters and sisters do, Maya's heart sank.
"Is there no way to make it end?" Maya asked. "These women shouldn't be forced to sell themselves like common whores just so that their families could get ahead."
Adeline reached out and placed her hand on Maya's, she looked at the younger woman and smiled.
"Hopefully, after Nathaniel and you prove that their underhanded methods such as these don't work they will give up," Adeline's eyes glistened with hope.
