"So what is it that you wanted to ask me?" Maya said, tilting her head to the side, anxious about what else Nathaniel might request.
"I need to ask you, Maya," Nathaniel said as he looked her in the eyes. "Do you plan on further denying that Gabriel is mine?"
Maya was taken aback by his question, she never expected him to ask her something like that.
"You already have the DNA test," she muttered. "What other proof do you need?"
Maya feared where Nathaniel was headed with his line of questioning, she had a vague idea where it would lead, but she understood it was inevitable.
What father would want their son to remain illegitimate if he truly loved him?
"Gabriel is a De La Rue," he said in a stern voice.
"He is your son," Maya flatly responded.
"Maya, even if he weren't I was ready to adopt him, you do know what that makes him, right?" Nathaniel asked her as he reached out and held her hand.
