Maya ran her hands over her dress, straightening it for the tenth time since getting into the car. This wasn't the dress she had asked for, but it was much grander and flattered her figure much more.
"Maya, darling, calm down," her mother said as she placed a hand on Maya's.
"I'm worried about Gabriel," Maya lied, trying her best to hide her nerves behind the fact that she was thinking of her son.
"We both know that's not it," Caroline Miller told her daughter as she gave Maya an understanding smile.
"Mom," Maya groaned as their car came to a stop.
Outside cameras flashed as she saw her father and grandfather step out of the car and she could feel her stomach doing summersaults.
"Your siblings are with your son," Caroline said. "We both know that your brothers and sister will take good care of him, spoil him even."
Maya sighed and nodded as she lifted the mask and placed it on her face.
