Chapter 29 - Hope village

When Diedrich woke up he reminisced how it had been 9 days now since he established Tarak village, although in total he had spent 12 days in this new world or World of Expansion if he was going by what the system called it.

Thinking about it Diedrich found he had done quite well so far, the village had a stable food and water supply, people had roofs over their heads, and the village had a defense force, it was even fortified by an small but stable wall. Comprehending what he had done he was quite pleased with himself.

"Rio and Luna, I'll find you soon".

Since establishing the village, Diedrich had put up a tough front to the villagers, this wasn't his real personality however he found it necessary, he was currently the youngest person in the village being only 17 so he had to act mature, otherwise he felt people would be less respectful to him and would walk over him.

There was also the small fear in the back of his mind that someone would overthrow him and take over his village, although this risk was significantly reduced by the villager's strange loyalty and him being the strongest.

However, Diedrich still wanted to be the best leader possible so that any possible rebellions could be avoided.

Although a positive Diedrich found from the situation was that he was becoming less awkward around people, personal one-on-one conversations were still uncomfortable, but in groups, he felt he could cope.

Although he still preferred to be on his own.

Diedrich then continued his morning routine.

Summoning the daily number of citizens, Diedrich now had 47 citizens of which 11 were Warriors possesing the Nature's spear infantry profession, while 8 citizens had been trained well enough that they could hold themselves in combat.

After the summoning the first thing Diedrich did was talk to Elisabeth, the woman he was supposed to appoint tasks to villagers and manage the village when he was gone, after the debacle with Bill he had completely forgotten about her.

Talking with her she agreed to do the job, Joyful Diedrich then told her the specifics that had to happen every day so the village stayed running like fresh water had to be brought from the lake and the sapling of life had to be watered daily, and the other small details.

Diedrich also told her that if she sees areas the village could improve upon and they were small projects she could appoint them herself, while big projects had to be run past him, he also said he wanted a short rapport of what happened in the village every day.

Understanding the memo, Diedrich then publicly introduced her to the village and her role as village manager.

Having done that Diedrich went and gave the farmers and Ilsa the soul cores he promised, making them very thankful, especially Mark the skinner who didn't expect to receive any, seeing that Mark's workload was increasing daily, Diedrich told Mark to take an apprentice or student who would help with the skinning, which he was also pleased about.

Next, Diedrich summoned Karla and Alex, as the two heads of the military Diedrich decided to give both of them a Rank orb making them rank two.

After absorbing the orb in front of him, with Diedrich confirming they became rank 2, they profusely thanked him and had excited expressions plastered across their face.

Diedrich still had one more nature rank orb for a rank 3 Elementalist and a rank 2 warrior in his possession, although for the Elementalist orb, he had no idea who to give it to, while he was planning to make a little tournament for the soldiers to see who will get the last one, with Alex and Karla naturally being excluded

Having given the rank orbs Diedrich became excited as he was going over his plans for the second village.

He wanted to place it next to a pond or water-logged area where he could grow the bone tree, until now the apple it produced was the only fruit Diedrich knew of that could massively increase someone's constitution so being able to cultivate it would become a massive boon for the village.

Luckily a soldier had spotted a pond about five kilometers to the west of the village.

The pond wasn't big enough for the farm Diedrich envisioned, however, more area could always be dug out later.

The pond would of course have to be filled with bones, as the tree used that for nutrition and Diedrich knew the perfect place to get them, and that was from the previous pond Diedrich got the fruit from and fought the giant snake.

The only problem Diedrich faced was who to send to the village, he couldn't leave it unguarded and he did not want to send his warriors over to that place.

Eventually, he decided to send 8 of his villagers, while also sending 5 of the 8 rank 0 soldiers, to make sure they were proficiently protected Diedrich would also give them the first batch of insignias Bill would produce.

To find the volunteers, during breakfast, Diedrich gathered the entire village together and explained his ambitions for the new village, when he added that the villagers would get a percentage of the bone apples produced people began to step forward, especially the rank 0 soldiers when they heard about the insignias they would receive.

After that Diedrich escorted the group along with a few soldiers and extra villagers who would help make basic structures and defenses for the new village.

..................................................

Diedrich arrived at the pond and established the village near by, shocking his entourage after a blinding light suddenly assaulted them and buildings suddenly materialized.

Diedrich walked to the origin and planned to immediately summon new villagers but changed his mind after he realized the name was still Jack Village.

"Can't have that now can we".

So Diedrich inspected the origin.

Diedrich noticed that the village had gotten extra stats with the territory effect and figured that it was because they had become subordinate to Tarak Village.

Diedrich then focused on the name of the village, after what had happened Diedrich decided to name it [Hope] village with the desire it would turn into a prosperous city one day.

Having finished that Diedrich summoned the citizens, after they materialized Diedrich found that all of them turned out to be rank 0, much to his disappointment.

Diedrich then introduced the villagers to their respective roles and began the construction of the village.

When the basic defenses were done Diedrich decided to go back to Tarak, there he picked up the insignias from Bill who was finished by now, and delivered them to the five soldiers who had volunteered.

The next hour or so Diedrich spend with the soldiers trying to find suitable companions that they wanted as their partners, Diedrich had listed the beasts he had encountered until now and they picked out of those, with 3 deciding they wanted the wolf, while one chose the creature that looked like weasel named a Tayra, while one chose a boar.

Diedrich looked incredulous at the person who wanted a boar and asked, "Are you sure?".

"YES!", the man replied with a bit too much enthusiasm, and Diedrich seeing his wanting expression respected his decision.

Catching and enslaving..... Binding the beasts to the insignia was interesting, you indeed first had to completely beat the creature so that it felt utterly demoralized and defeated and then touch the insignia against its head while imagining the insignia binding to them.

The beast would then be absorbed into the insignia and the person would have to spend a few hours binding with the insignia which was done simply by holding it continuously after the creature was absorbed.

The beast that ended up struggling the most funnily enough turned out to be the boar, Diedrich had to beat it severely three times until it finally stopped struggling and accepted its fate.

The soldiers receiving their companions were all naturally ecstatic and thanked Diedrich who continued to help build the village.

When the sun was beginning to go under the village had been mostly completed, there were a few houses people could live in, in addition to the living quarters building, a bathroom, and more storage spaces that included many plates and kitchenware Diedrich had made along with a few tables and chairs.

The soldiers would be responsible for the food for now, while water was not an issue since they lived next to a pond and the lake wasn't that far away from them either.

The only problem Diedrich encountered was that he couldn't be here every day to summon people, although he technically could he felt it was too much of a bother, and some days he might be out on an excursion so he had to find an alternative.

luckily similar to inviting people to become citizens, Diedrich found he was able to pass that responsibility to someone else.

Diedrich eventually found a man named Nate among the soldiers, he had shown decent skill when it came to leadership and he appointed him as Hope villages head, he was quite shocked and happy by the turn of events and excepted his role with excitement.

Diedrich told the villagers of Hope village what he wanted from the village and handed them the last of the Bone apples he had and told them how they had to cultivate it, which was pretty vague but they understood the memo.

Diedrich also said that for the first week, the Tarak soldiers would help with the night patrols but after that they would have to do it them selfs, making the citizens especially the soldiers of Hope village nervous as they understood their obligation to defend it.

Diedrich then headed back to Tarak with the soldiers and Villagers who helped with the construction of the new village.

Arriving at Tarak Diedrich notified the soldiers that their patrol range had increased to encompass Hope village for a week.

..................................................

The next day Diedrich did his morning routine again of summoning villagers.

Just finished Diedrich saw Elisabeth walking over to talk to him, seeing an opportunity he immediately decided to grant her the ability to summon people every morning, bewildering her.

"What did you want to talk about?".

Still a bit stunned by the sudden responsibility Elisabeth answered: "Ahh, Yes, well currently you have assigned specific tasks to only certain people like Bill or Ilsa, while for the majority of the people, the tasks are a bit vague of who should do what as people are just kind of deciding themself, which although for now seems to be working, in the long run, it will lead to complications".

Diedrich already knew she was right and had noticed it too, as the work seemed to be more of a voluntary system where people chose what tasks they want to complete for the village, however since the system seemed to work for now and Diedrich not having had an idea of how to change the situation he just let it be.

"So do you have a solution?"

"Yes, the best thing to do right now is to make a few divisions and place people in them, similar to the soldiers, we should also give each division a leader which will make communicating more efficient".

Diedrich and Elisabeth then discussed the divisions and eventually settled on 5.

The first one being the Construction division in charge of all things related to the village's construction.

Second, would be the Resource division in charge of clearing jungle and getting raw materials such as wood.

Third, the Production division which would include Mark, Ilsa, Bill, and the farmers for now.

Fourth would be Village management, the division would be in charge of keeping the village up and running such as Elisabeth and Matilda the cook, Diedrich also decided to put Bella the village doctor with the division as they both did not know where to put her now.

The fifth and last division was of course the military, the guardians of Tarak.

Having decided the divisions Diedrich left choosing the leaders for each one up to Elisabeth only telling her that the leader for the military should be either Alex or Karla.

Leaving her to the task Diedrich decided to go to the jungle as today he would get his new Treant.

Diedrich could have done it sooner but he decided to instead use the Euterpe trees for the village, as he wasn't really in need of extra power, however after subduing Jack and learning that people might come after him later he decided it was now time.

Treading through the Jungle Diedrich followed the directions a soldier had given him to a Euterpe tree he had spotted while patrolling.

Pretty soon Diedrich was standing in front of it, the tree was only 8 or so meters tall indicating it was not fully grown yet compared with the ones normally found standing at 17 meters tall.

This was quite fortunate for Diedrich as he guessed that the size and rarity of the tree might affect the EP expenditure.

Thrilled at the find Diedrich put his hand on the tree and activated his skill.

[Treant Creation]

The tree began to shrink rapidly making it look like a robust wooden trunk from which it began to mold itself into a humanoid form, the wood began to twist itself transforming into two long muscular wooden arms and legs, while the crown became a mess of verdant green wooden hair.

After a few seconds, a 3-meter tall giant stood before Diedrich, its body still retained its original silverish color, while its head was filled with green leaves, and like always it had a face without features, except two green glowing eyes.

Looking up at the Giant Diedrich became intimidated as he stared up at its menacing jade glowing apertures, even though Diedrich could feel the spiritual bond he had with the Treant he still gulped at its imposing aura.
