Sunlight fell through the gaps of the poorly constructed door waking Diedrich up, as he removed the door and branches Diedrich stretched his muscles and began climbing up the mountain with his Treant.
After hiking for two hours without encountering anything Diedrich reached the top, the mountain turned out to be a rather large hill instead of a mountain, although it still gave Diedrich an advantage point from where he could clearly see his surroundings.
Looking around all Diedrich could see was an endless expanse of jungle. Diedrich wasn't surprised however it did cause him to sit on a stone and begin to contemplate.
Diedrich's goal was to find his family however he knew that it wouldn't be easy and would probably take a long time, especially if he kept on running around like a headless chicken.
"If I just venture around recklessly I'll die, and that wouldn't help anyone".
Pondering on his thoughts for a bit longer Diedrich came to the conclusion that for now, he had to focus on himself, if he didn't it would only take so long before he was the lunch of some monster, and even if he did find them he couldn't protect them, he was simply too weak, however when he was strong enough and had the relevant information about this world, he would find them, of this, he promised himself.
"Guess it will take some time before I see you again Rio and Luna"
With his plan for the future set straight and a determined expression, Diedrich, started his own journey.
While looking at the surroundings from atop the hill Diedrich had also spotted a river, which was quite fortunate as he was beginning to get thirsty, and water was a must for survival.
He began walking down the mountain towards the river. When he arrived Diedrich was hesitant to drink it as the water looked murky green however seeing the river was flowing at a fast pace he decided to drink a little bit, which immediately dispelled his worries as it tasted extremely fresh.
Drinking his fill Diedrich decided to follow the river downstream to see if he could hunt any wildlife while also wondering where it would lead him, having a secure source of water was another plus.
A little while later following the river Diedrich got surrounded by three of what he could only presume were wolves, they had elongated legs similar to deer making them slightly taller than the boar, while having the body of a wolf but the head resembling one of a fox, they also had a green fur coat with a mane.
The wolves also had some kind of skill that could crudely camouflage themselves, as Diedrich hadn't noticed them at all until he was completely surrounded and even now it seemed as if their bodies wanted to disappear into the surrounding vegetation.
Diedrich was nervous and slightly scared, he would not have been able to deal with the boar if he was on his own and now he had to fight 3 ferocious wolves.
Uncaring for Diedrich's predicament one of the wolves decided to immediately pounce on him, Diedrich put his sword in front of him in a defensive position and the wolf surprising Diedrich, bit down on it with full force, the wolf had likely never encountered a sword before as the weapon went through half of the wolves jaw before it let go and backed off while whimpering.
Looking at his sword Diedrich could see a few cracks had formed in the stone sword.
The wolf's compatriot angered by its companions wound jumped towards Diedrich over the Treant, Diedrich seeing the opportunity made the Treant elongate its hand into vines and go around the wolf's leg while in midair.
So just before the wolf reached Diedrich its flight suddenly stopped like it was chained and it fell to the ground just short of reaching him, already knowing where the wolf would fall Diedrich had pointed the sword in front of him and thrusted forwards with as much power as he could piercing the wolf through its eye killing it.
Taking the sword out of the wolf's skull it broke in two while Diedrich suddenly felt a major force pushing against his back making him fall over, reaching the ground Diedrich felt an agonising pain as the last wolf began tearing into his back.
Unable to think clearly Diedrich couldn't call on his treant to help him and unable to put up any form of resistance due to the wolf holding him down all Diedrich could do was lay there screaming in agony.
Knowing that he would die if he didn't do anything, Diedrich used the last of his willpower to instruct the treant to attack the wolf.
The wolf feeling itself get attacked from its side by a little creature exerting more force then it should be able to, made it disengage from Diedrich and attacked it.
In one scoop the wolf put the treant in its mouth and started ferociously tearing into it while Diedrich was still instructing the treant to attack it in whatever way he could imagine, one of the attacks got lucky and hit the wolf in its eye partially blinding it.
The wolf was furious and threw the treant out of its mouth and attacked it again only this time pinning its body down and attacking the head, biting it off making the wooden creature immediately grow still.
Feeling triumphant the wolf turned around to finish its other target for it only to be met with a broken sword piercing its neck making its eyes slowly close forever.
Watching the wolf sway and fall to the ground as it struggled to stay alive with the sword in its neck, Diedrich felt a sense of relief that was quickly replaced with the stinging pain from his back as his adrenalin decreased.
Remembering how in the trial he began to rapidly heal after leveling up Diedrich immediately began to cut up the corpses of the two dead wolves to try and see if they had a soul core in them, the last wolf whose jaw was almost completely severed seemed to have run away.
Finding two soul cores Diedrich immediately put one in his mouth uncaring for how bloody it was, the core dissolve turning into a stream of energy moving in his body.
Feeling the cold energy spread around his body Diedrich waited for something to happen however nothing did as he was still in pain.
Confused Diedrich thought of his status to see if anything had changed.

___________
"No still the same".
Diedrich then checked the soul core to see if that would give some kind of clue.
___________
Item: Soul core (Tier 1)
Grade: Normal (+)
Description: Contains power of a Rank 1 . Power can be assimilated through absorbing the soul core. Will lose increments of 10% of soul power every 30 minutes, until it reaches 10% of original power.
___________
"So this core is one rank higher then the boars that why it is more special and has the + sign, but why haven't I gone up a level then, since the treant leveled up twice by absorbing the boar's?"
Diedrich lost his train of thought as the pain from his bleeding back overcame him and he just absorbed the other core.
Diedrich could again feel the energy spread out and envelop him only this time it seeped into his muscles nourishing his body, Diedrich's wounds began to stop bleeding while the pain lessened.
Feeling much better Diedrich checked his status.

Diedrich was shocked, his stats increased massively with intelligence and EP having gained 5 stats while the rest gained 4, his constitution had almost doubled from 6 to 10 which is probably why his wounds were closing and the bleeding had stopped.
"I gained much more from the level up than the Treant did, is it because I'm a rank 4 and it is a rank 1? Mmmh interesting".
Reminded of the Treant Diedrich's mood lowered a bit, when the Treant died Diedrich felt something snap in him as if he had lost something important, although later it seemed the energy that Diedrich had used to first create the Treant returned, Diedrich was still feeling sour over the loss of the Treant and how the battle went because without its help he would have being dead.
"Although it seems it's better to level myself up instead of my Treants, as I gain a lot more from a level it seems".
Still wanting some extra protection Diedrich found a tall beautiful red plant this time and turned it into a Treant.
This one also turned into a humanoid looking basically the same except that it was now red and green and was made up of the plant itself instead of vines, it also had a lower constitution but higher agility the rest of the stats were the same.
The skill however this time was different and it could secret a poison that had sleep inducing properties.
Not wanting to waste food Diedrich decided to eat the wolves, their meat was tough and unappetising, but it still satisfied Diedrich to know that who the wolves thought would be prey had instead turned them into lunch.
Diedrich then continued following the river.
