Chapter 3 - Inheritance

Cursing will always be a no-no for Luis. Before the tragic end of the world happened, when no flesh-eating zombies were roaming in the city and the whole world is still shrouded by the wings of capitalism.

Luis was a devoted churchgoer.

Yes no matter how he looks, no matter how green, slimy and rotten his mind was, he will always do bible studies on Wednesdays and church services on Sundays like a routine.

Thou shalt not curse. Thou shalt not sin.

He adheres to those rules very religiously. Well at the very least, he's done his best.

He would probably say the F-word when he is thinking, fantasizing and dreaming of the 'deed' and when he's got a very strong feeling that someone or something gonna screw him big time.

Just those times.

But this time, his instinct is making him say it.

Truthfully speaking, his instincts and hunches are very useful and it is terrifyingly accurate.

It was proven and tested since it saved his life countless times during the apocalypse.

Though this time, he kind of hoped that he was just mistaken.

'Please let this be just my paranoid mind.'

Luis whispered to whoever god sent him to this paradise.

Amen.

"Robe please," Luis said like a true aristocrat.

The attentive temple servants immediately handed him a white flowy robe and helped him get dressed.

Luis stood there proudly on his naked body. He's been excited about his new and gorgeous body ever since. He wants to reap what he expected to sow with this body of his.

Let's see if this faithful followers will be seduced. So he stood there with his chest out and shoulders spread out. Well...

"How about a glass of juice, my Lord?" offered the unsuspecting servant.

"Ugh, yes please," said the disappointed elf lord.

And watched the yellow juice pour into a wooden cup.

Luis has tasted it a few days ago and it captured his taste buds helplessly. It was sweet yet sour. Like a refreshing juice of a tropical fruit back on earth.

It is now his third day and he feels like it's not that hard to adjust himself. What difficulty when he is being spoiled like a king?

Just say one word and it was provided to you.

Ask for food and a feast of meat and vegetable dishes will be served to you.

Just say water and a glass of cool and fresh spring water are in your hands instantly...

Wait... A disgusting thought suddenly showed up in his mind.

"Nicol, if I may ask where did you get my drinking water by the way?" Luis asked the hottie head priest of the temple.

"My Lord need not be polite to us. We are your servant. It came from the Sacred Spring of course!" The head priest said righteously. Nicol gracefully showed the spring where he just bathe.

"There's nothing in this world that's considered better than the Sacred Water secreted by the Holy Tree of Life."

"Urk, What?!" Luis choked on his drink.

He can feel his nasal cavity burning because of the sudden surge of sour juice. But what concerns him was the fact that he might be drinking his own bath water all along!

Just thinking that his dead skin cells reuniting in his throat makes him want to puke.

However, what he didn't expect is his overreacting could illicit an even stronger reaction from the moon elves!

"The lord was poisoned!"

"You damn servant dare to poison our lord?"

The sentinels who saw their new elf lord's face almost crumpled and bent in a fit of cough, immediately pulled out their blades and were about to cut the head of the innocent servant.

"Wait! I just choked! No big deal!" Luis immediately called out to stop the impending blood bath in front of him. He resumed a normal expression while silently feeling the pain inside his nose.

"And besides poison does not work on me, okay!" he added which is half-bull sh*t and half-truth.

As a level five wood ability user, he is fairly resistant to most plant-based poison. Wood ability users have that cheat like feature so that they can control mutant plants with lesser hazard.

Just like how top tier earth ability users have tougher body or the lightning ability user to be immune to electrocution.

That and coupled with the high vitality of his elf lord body, his resistance must have gone higher.

Well, he isn't sure about animal toxins though but he is sure that he can live even though he is poisoned in the future.

The moon elves once again looked at him with that star-struck eyes.

Luis on the other hand, felt a bit shy for a moment.

He must admit, even though he is thick-skinned, it's too flattering to be the subject of such adoration!

"Come on. Stand up. I'm sorry for causing such a misunderstanding. You must have suffered." Because he is in the mood, Luis smiled like a living saint. He then reached his arm to help.

"No-no, my Lord! You can kill me if you want!" Said the scared (scammed) servant. It was true that he was terrified just now. However, if the lord willed that he should die now then what choice do he have?

He is a just a poor bearer who served the temple for exchange of food.

It was just his luck to become one of the few chosen servants that will directly serve the newborn lord who happened to be a bearer just like him.

The moment he took this job, he swore to be the lord's hands and feet. The existence of the lord is only lesser than the moon goddess!

He promised himself that he will even lay down his life for the elf lord if he were ever in danger but now, the juice that he prepared choked their elf lord!

'I truly deserved to die!' the poor bearer wept inside his heart.

Luis was clueless about what is going on inside the mind theatre of this poor skinny moon elf.

He directy held the hand and pulled him up.

"You don't need to cry. Your lord is alright." He once again consoled. "Don't ask for death next time. You should value your life more. We are of the same race, we only have each other to count on." It's troublesome to find another efficient servant, was what this really meant.

'Oh moon goddess above, the lord has such a benevolent heart!' all the present moon elves prayed with a grateful heart.

"Nicol,"

"Yes, my Lord?" The attentive head priest replied.

"Were there any other water sources around?"

Nicol was surprised by such a question. "Is there anything wrong, my Lord?"

"The Sacred Spring is the best water for cultivating one's body and improving the moon elves' nature's energy since it contains the Tree of Life's surplus natural energy.

However, I would like to bathe somewhere that is not the source of my drinking water, you know." Please don't think of him as someone picky. Who would be at ease if you know that there is a possibility that the water that you drink has a speck of your dead skin cells?

Even during the end of the world, he didn't come to a point where he drank his bath water.

"But my Lord, you need to raise your body with the Sacred Water inside and out. This will help you to have a sturdy plate so that you can use your power without damaging your body."

A moon elf is a very unique entity. Unlike other races that have and use mana inside their body to create magic. The moon elves' bodies absorb the energy of nature and then use that as fuel for their elemental power. So there is the core which is the natural energy that is stored inside the moon elves body. Then the plate connotes the physique that the moon elf has. It is important to make and keep these two pure to become strong. These are also the basis of the measurement of strength among the moon elves.

Fire, Earth, Water, Wind, Thunder, Metal and Ice. At this period, those are the powers existing in the moon elves' bloodline. Now that there's a new elven lord with two completely new power, no one has an idea how many changes will it bring to the entire race.

Right. Luis remembered the information that he got during his birth. Luis is somewhat in a state of consciousness and unconscious days ago. For the outside world, this is the time when this big ass tree that is standing on top of Ambria Mountain, bore his body like a fruit. From the whispers of the wind to the rustling of the leaves to the changes of day and night and even by the time he dropped down to the Sacred Spring and was fished out and laid in a soft and fragrant bed. Luis can somehow feel all of this. It was like he lying in the centre of the cosmos. And at the same time, chopped-up information is being shared in his brain. It was the memories of his predecessors.

The previous moon elf lord.

This information is what they called inheritance.

Luis is the 43rd lord born in this world.

And a lord's life span can even last for more than a thousand years. One can see how long life in this world is. Just imagine how much information is shoved in his head before he first wake up. Luis is even a bit confused days after he woke up.

And he doesn't mind it at all. Who would hate a short state of nausea in exchange of life of comfort? It's like he is on a vacation for a thousand years!

"Then is it possible to make something like a bathtub?"

"Bathtub?" A whole lot of moon elves tilted their head in confusion.

Luis the face-con from apocalypse was once again assaulted with excessively beautiful visuals of these moon elves.

This is torture really!

He begrudgingly picked a wooden stick just around the corner (this is a stem of the Tree of Life which the moon elves use as an active ingredient to create a precious core-healing potion) and sketched a bathtub on the soil. What he drew was just like the modern ceramic bathtub minus the faucet and the drain.

"This is how a bathtub should look like! We will put the sacred water inside this tub when I am- wait what is wrong?" Luis enthusiastically explained while using the stick as a pointer. But then he finds the expression of temple servants somewhat lost and defeated so he asked out of concern.

"Nothing my Lord!"

"We are just marvelling at your genius invention!"

"Oh, I see" The ignorant lord just casually left it at that. Then he carelessly threw aside the stick (again it was precious!) and continued to passionately explain the damned bathtub.

He didn't even notice the helpless eyes that the 'stick' pulled from all the moon elves present.

"So once I am done bathing we can... I don't know just use my bath water to water the plants. Just make sure it won't be mixed with the water that I'll drink."

"Y-yes my Lord. I will ask the temple's resident sculptor to carve a... bathtub for you."

Luis looked at the disconcerted head priest.

"Nicol, if you think that what I'm asking you is too much. You can say it. I won't be unreasonable. I am your lord. You understand that?" The elf lord said with genuine compassion.

Nicol the head priest and the rest of the gang hastily said, "Of course not! My Lord!"

"I will quickly make arrangements for this my Lord," Nicol said in a firm tone.

"That's what I am talking about," Luis said with satisfaction.
