The next morning, Selene woke up early and started her day with a cup of coffee. As she sat at the kitchen table, she heard the familiar sound of her phone ringing. When she answered, it was Luna's face that appeared on the screen, her younger sister's bright smile greeting her.
"Good morning, Selene!" Luna said, her voice carrying across the distance between them. "It's been too long since we last spoke."
"I know, Luna," Selene replied, her own smile spreading across her face. "It's good to see you again. What brings you to Eartha?"
"I'm here to surprise Evan!" Luna exclaimed, excitement evident in her voice. "I thought I'd drop by and see how my nephew is doing. It's been too long since I last saw him."
Selene couldn't help but chuckle. Her sister had always been impulsive, and it seemed that hadn't changed.
"That's great, Luna. But I'm not sure if Evan will still remember you, He was so young when you two last saw each other you know." Selene said.
Luna gave a small laugh. "Oh, don't worry about that, Selene. I'm his favorite aunt, remember? He'll definitely remember me," she said confidently, a mischievous glint in her eye. "I can't wait to see him again. How is he doing, by the way?"
Selene's expression turned slightly somber as she replied, "He's been struggling a bit lately. He's had some trouble finding his place in the world, you know?"
Luna's smile faltered a bit at the news. "I see. Well, maybe my visit will cheer him up. I'll be there in a few hours. And don't worry about me, I've already arranged for my own transportation."
Selene smiled, knowing that her sister had always been independent and resourceful. "Alright, Luna. We'll see you soon. Evan is going to be so surprised to see you."
"I bet he will be," Luna replied, grinning. "I'll see you soon, sis." With that, the call ended, leaving Selene feeling both excited and nervous about her sister's upcoming visit.
Selene couldn't help but feel a twinge of envy. She had always lived a relatively quiet life on Eartha, far away from the politics and power struggles of Avalon. But as Luna spoke, Selene found herself wondering what it would be like to be part of something bigger than herself.
Selene sat at the kitchen table, lost in thought as she sipped her coffee. She couldn't help but think about the Moonstone Coalition, the powerful clan that her sister and their family were part of. The Coalition was known for its mastery of destiny whispering, a power that every clan member possessed to some degree. Destiny whispering allowed the user to see glimpses of the threads of destiny and predict future events to some extent.
Selene had always been envious of Luna's talent for destiny whispering. Even as a child, Luna had shown an uncanny ability to predict events that would happen in the future. Selene, on the other hand, had never shown any signs of having this power. It was one of the reasons she had chosen to live a quiet life on Eartha, far away from the politics and power struggles of Avalon.
But as she thought about Luna's upcoming visit, Selene couldn't help but wonder what it would be like to have that kind of power. She imagined being able to see the threads of destiny and manipulate the future to some extent. It was a power that she had always found fascinating, even if she didn't have it herself.
As she finished her coffee, Selene made a mental note to ask Luna about destiny whispering when she arrived. Maybe she could learn more about it and finally unlock her own potential. But for now, she pushed the thoughts aside and focused on preparing for her sister's arrival.
As Selene finished her coffee, she heard footsteps coming from Evan's bedroom. Soon enough, her son appeared at the kitchen doorway, rubbing the sleep from his eyes.
"Good morning, Evan," Selene greeted him with a warm smile.
"Morning, Mom," Evan replied, still groggy. "What's for breakfast?"
Selene chuckled. "The usual, I'm afraid. But there's a surprise waiting for you."
"A surprise?" Evan perked up, the sleepiness disappearing from his face. "What is it?"
"It's a secret for now," Selene said, enjoying the excitement in her son's eyes. "But I promise it's going to be a good one," she said. "But first, how are you doing?"
Evan shrugged. "Same old, same old," he replied. "I sometimes feel like I don't belong here, you know?"
Selene's expression turned slightly somber at his words. She knew that Evan had been struggling lately, trying to find his place in the world. But she didn't want to dwell on that right now.
"Well, let's not talk about that right now," she said, changing the topic. "We have a visitor coming today, someone you haven't seen in a while."
"Who?" Evan asked, curiously.
Selene grinned. "It won't be a surprise if I say it now honey," she said.
As Evan finished his breakfast, Selene quickly cleaned up the dishes and then went to check on the guest room. She wanted to make sure everything was ready for Luna's arrival. The guest room was small but cozy, with a comfortable bed, a dresser, and a window that let in plenty of natural light.
After making a mental checklist of everything she needed to do, Selene went to the living room and turned on the TV. She was hoping to distract herself from her nervousness, but her thoughts kept drifting back to her sister and the Moonstone Coalition. She wondered if Luna would be able to teach her destiny whispering and if she had the potential for it.
As Selene was lost in thought, she heard a knock at the door. Selene's heart skipped a beat as she went to answer it. She opened the door to find Luna standing on the other side, wearing a big smile and carrying a backpack.
"Surprise!" Luna exclaimed, throwing her arms around Selene and giving her a tight hug. "It's so good to see you again!"
Selene hugged her back, feeling the warmth and familiarity of her sister's embrace. "It's good to see you too, Luna," she said. "Come on in. Evan's been looking forward to your visit."
As they walked into the living room, Evan looked up from his book and saw Luna. He was momentarily taken aback but quickly composed himself.
"Aunt Luna! Is that you?" he exclaimed, getting up from the couch. "What a surprise. It's great to see you again."
Luna hugged Evan, and they exchanged greetings. Selene watched them with a smile, happy to see her sister and her son getting along so well.
After the initial excitement died down, they all settled in the living room and chatted about what they'd been up to since they last saw each other. Evan told Luna about his school projects and extracurricular activities, while Selene talked about her work at the local library. Luna shared stories of her travels and the people she met along the way.
"So, Luna, what brings you here?" Selene finally asked, unable to contain her curiosity any longer.
"I thought it was about time I paid my favorite sister and nephew a visit," Luna replied with a smile. "Plus, I have something important to discuss with you, Selene."
Selene's interest was piqued. "What is it?"
"Well, you know the work with the clan is getting too much for us to handle now," Luna said.
Selene nodded, remembering the conversations they had about Luna's involvement with the clan's politics and its recent unrest between members.
"Both mother and father want you to return to the clan, we are lacking people we can trust. Also, I think it's time for Evan to come back to Avalon," said Luna.
"What is Avalon?", Evan asked.
"Wait! Don't tell me you haven't told him anything about Avalon" Luna exclaimed.
Selene nodded her head and thought about how she never got the chance to talk to Evan about Avalon or her family.
"Oh, my sister! You are unbelievable. Ok my dear nephew listen carefully now" Luna started to explain about the world of Avalon
