Chapter 227 - Brewing Storm

At about 5:30 PM, Lorenzo trudged towards the car park outside his slaughterhouse. His shoulder was drooping and his gestures were half-hearted. He stared beyond a black-tinted exotic car pondering on the two worrisome questions Alex asked him some hours ago.

Lorenzo could foresee a storm brewing but he didn't want to be in the middle of that storm. He didn't want to be either at the attacking end or the receiving end of a father and son's imminent feud.

As he got closer to the black car, his drumming heart doubled its momentum. It felt as if his soul was about to flee from his body.

Lying over the phone was easy. But what happens if the person you are lying to already knows part of the truth? What if the person was just testing your ability to be honest?

Lorenzo's mind dampened as he thought about his conversation with Alex. His memory replayed the questions Alex asked him and the answers he gave.
