"Wow! Alex, I'm so proud of you. You've grown up to be such a fine young man. I wish Mum was alive to see what you've become. You are nothing like Dad, and Mum would have been so impressed." Cynthia's voice was full of praise and admiration.
"Yeah..." The mention of his father's ugly past brought an uneasy feeling at the bottom of Alex's stomach.
Alex remembered how his mum quarrelled with his dad in the past over infidelity. Even though his dad pleaded for forgiveness, he would secretly go and involve himself with another woman right after he was forgiven.
He remembered the last scandal which destroyed his family and brought shame to the family's name. His dad got involved with one of their house help that his mum had hired.
