Stella felt guilt eating deeply into her. She felt Alex was blinded by his love. So she tried to talk some sense into him.
"Alex, you can't be with me. Nobody can. I'm sorry I lied to you. I'm sorry I deceived you. I was just a girl on the run seeking hope against all odds. I never bargained for love when I fell in love with you. But now I'm scared. I'm scared that I've made a grave mistake getting myself involved with you and Adrian."
"If you claim to love me, then why didn't you stick with me? Why did you leave me for Adrian? What makes you think I can protect you?" Alex demanded. His tone conveyed a bit of rage.
