After almost four hours of an uncomfortable sleep on the couch, Valerie slowly opened her eyes and stared at the coffered ceiling while wondering where she was. She remembered leaving Stella's house to go get a gift package that Adrian got her.
But what she couldn't understand was how she had managed to arrive at Stella's house or why Stella's pauper's house suddenly transformed from a slum to a palace with those beautiful coffered ceilings and the comfy couch.
"Ouch!" Valerie winced. She felt a stiffening pain on the back of her neck which resulted from a wrong sleeping position. So she slowly sat up and twisted her neck from side to side.
It was at this point she felt a pair of eyes glaring at her in disgust. She almost let out a yelp but relaxed when she realized that it was the annoying grouch.
"Were you a devil's sidekick in your former life?" Valerie scoffed. "By the way, where are..."
