Fifteen years ago, on a moonlit night under the Moutou Mountain, there was a peaceful scene with flickering lights outlining the hazy silhouette of Deqing City. Southwest of there, by the surging Moganshan Lake stood a man holding a long sword and facing the moon. In the pavilion behind him sat a gentle figure - his wife. She wore a long dress and her black hair fluttered in the wind. Beautiful and graceful, she gazed at her husband's figure with infatuation.
"Yuru," he said to her, "do you know? I have already communicated with the soul of this Moye Sword through my heart and even sensed something from that Xiongjian Ganjiang Sword. Do you know what this means? It means that my swordsmanship has reached its peak; I will become one of history's most powerful swordsmen."
The man turned around to look at his wife in satisfaction.
"Qingshuai," Yuru asked curiously as she approached him, "is this sword really so powerful? Can I touch it?"
"Of course," Qingshuai smiled slightly as he handed over the ancient bronze sword to Yuru. "You can touch it all you want; don't worry about anything because I've already tamed its soul. If you tell it what to do, it will listen."
"Really?" Yuru held onto the sword in her hand and looked at it curiously before asking again: "Can I also release energy like you did?"
"Certainly." Qingshuai led Yuru towards the lake shore while guiding her movements on how to swing the sword.
As they walked together, one could see that Yuru had some difficulty moving due to her slightly protruding belly - an indication that she was pregnant.
Underneath purple moonlight shining down upon them both, when they raised their swords, the moonlight seemed to be absorbed into the sword, transforming into a bright white energy that shot straight towards the lake surface.
"Bang!" A muffled sound was heard as the energy hit the water, causing a splash of water droplets. It was evident that this energy had great power.
"Wow! It really works! So amazing!" Yuru exclaimed excitedly upon seeing what happened. She then broke free from Qingshuai's embrace and went straight to play with her sword by herself at the lakeside.
Seeing his wife's actions, Qingshuai smiled faintly while secretly performing hand gestures behind his back. This technique required him to expend a lot of spiritual energy and concentration; however, he had no choice but to do so in order for Yuru to wield her own sword energy. In other words, it wasn't actually listening to Yuru - it only obeyed when summoned by him.
Due to his method, the man's mind was unable to be distracted, so he did not notice any movement on the distant lake. At this moment, a black cloud drifted from the far-off horizon and gradually covered the moonlight in the sky. Suddenly, a strong wind rose up and caused waves to surge on the lake surface while muddy water splashed into the air. Then suddenly there was a loud bang as a white spray exploded from under the water's surface followed by an enormous dark shadow that rushed out of it with its one-meter-wide bloody mouth aimed straight at the woman standing nearby.
"Yuru! Draw your sword!"
Seeing this scene unfold before him, The man couldn't help but feel anxious and desperate. He could only chant spells while shouting loudly for Yuru to draw her sword. Unfortunately, due to being too frightened at that moment, she failed to do so.
As he ran towards her with gritted teeth readying himself for battle against this monster fish known as "The Water King," which weighed several tons and measured over ten meters long; he saw clearly what had attacked them both earlier: A giant catfish!
This catfish had been hiding deep within Lake Moganshan all along waiting for its chance to strike when no one would expect it - especially since their ancestors' teachings never included guarding Lake Moganshan itself but rather just patrolling around Mount Modu where they lived instead.
However, because of his kind-heartedness towards all living creatures including even those considered monsters like this particular fish creature who had now taken everything away from him- his wife along with Mo Ye Sword- without warning or mercy whatsoever...he decided enough was enough!
He bit down hard on his tongue drawing blood then quickly drew symbols onto each palm using it as ink before slamming them together creating an explosive force sending Mo Ye Sword flying through space piercing right through The Water King's body causing it great pain making it thrash around wildly trying to escape but ultimately failing as the man chased after it relentlessly hacking away until finally, it lay dead at his feet.
Half an hour later, the man finally dug his wife out of the belly of the catfish monster stranded on the lake shore. But by this time, it was already too late. His wife's body had been half-digested and had turned into a bloody figure.
The man stood in the water, holding his dead wife's body in shock, and finally let out a wolf-like howl towards the distant mountain.
...
And with that, the story was pretty much over. Jietou, Xie Yilin and I fell silent.
"How did you know that the catfish monster was being controlled by Motu Yin Hun?" Jietou asked curiously after a long while.
"When I killed that creature, I sensed an extremely heavy yin energy on its body - obviously a symptom of being possessed by evil spirits," said Chi Qingshuai. He paused for a moment before continuing: "Besides, after investigating later on, I did find a special formation at the center of the lake island which indicates that indeed it was under control from Motu Yin Hun. It launched a premeditated attack against me and Xiao Ru."
"What is this 'special formation'?" Jietou continued to ask.
"If my guess is correct," without waiting for Chi Qingshuai to answer, I gave my own opinion: "This should be Motu Yin Hun's special mark. When I first encountered him years ago, there were also formations like these as well as ghost possessions - all typical characteristics of Motu Yin Hun. Other yin spirits elsewhere would never use such complex yet unappreciated methods.
