This custom was not much different from that of the Dragon Turtles in later generations. When a new Dragon Turtle crosses the Heavenly Catastrophe, there will always be elder support, just like Gu Luo leading Su He, and Green Thunder taking Ya Ya along.
However, Su He was somewhat special, a slight leap forward. Gu Luo had not yet gotten used to the feeling of being a parent when Su He kept advancing through the stages of Opening The Heaven until now.
Normally, Dragon Turtles are led hand-in-hand by their elders until they reach Opening Two-fold Heaven, and only let go when they get to Opening Heaven Three-fold. Until reaching Opening Heaven Five-fold, they are considered to have parental guidance, but once at Opening Heaven Five-fold, they can go wherever they like, and even if they fall into a forbidden area and get trapped for two or three thousand years, no one will care.
