The flames receded, and Phoenix Chao Fei muttered to himself while flying, his voice alternating between clear and melodious and hoarse like smoke. Gradually, he began to argue with himself.
"Not much skill, but no shortage of pride. Do you think he's seen too many powerful beings and forgotten his own weight?" Divine God Beasts all had this problem, particularly the Four Spirits.
His eyes opened to the mightiest existences of the All Heavens and Myriad Realms. Accustomed to seeing Greater Powers, he felt no fear towards the mighty, forgetting his own measure.
"Daring to mark me with a blood curse…" the smoky voice scoffed coldly. Before finishing, it transformed into a melodious voice: "He's your own child. Why terrify him with such murderous intent?"
"He's derived from your bloodline, he's your son! Not mine!" the smoky voice growled low.
The melodious voice immediately countered: "Our Origins are merged; my child is your child!"
