Chapter 4 - The Progenitor

Her mind went blank. Her heartbeat echoed in her ears as she felt her head pulse in sync. She was going to meet him, the man behind it all. She was going to more than "meet" him, she would bear his child. Her legs felt weak as she collapsed on her bed. She could barely sleep hence she read the notification repeatedly. She didn't have to prepare as a carriage would come for her and her things would be transported to her new chambers.

The notification informed her that she would have access to any room on the first and second floors of the house except the occupied bedrooms. She would also have one attendant who would be with her during her stay and pregnancy. She would also get regular check-ups and a special diet plan. It felt more like an experiment to her than something fuelled by lust. Her cycle was even requested when she first got here for efficiency. She could tell that his goal was for the children and not the women, but she could not understand why.

The next day came, and in a trance-like state, she found herself in the back seat of a tricycle moving towards the centre of the city to the most iconic building. It wasn't iconic because of its size as it was only 3 stories. No, it was so because the architecture used for the building was strange and seemed ancient. It was actually something similar to a Mayan temple. The progenitor built it first as it was the most effective and long-standing structure he could build quickly with the help of magic.

After stepping out of the vehicle, she was greeted by a lady in her forties who escorted her into the building. As she ascended the grand steps, her heart pounded heavily in her chest, breaking through the trance-like state she had been in. She could sense the presence of someone more powerful than anyone she had ever encountered before. His presence made that of the 1Gs and 2Gs look like children, well… they were his children. His aura was not suffocating or overwhelming; instead, it was commanding and tranquil, unmistakably belonging to him. She...

"Miss? Miss," the attendant called out to Cerys, snapping her out of her deep thoughts. She was introduced to another lady in her thirties, who would be her personal aid during her stay. As she entered the ancient building, she was surprised to see that the inside was more advanced than the initial accommodation. As she walked, she spotted two other brides who seemed to be happy, easily distinguishable from the maids and butlers who wore plain grey attire. Referring to the personal aids as maids would have been an insult, as they were qualified in nursing and general health, having undergone additional training to be perfect aides for the brides during a three-year period.

As night fell, she was still lost in thought as she was escorted to the third floor, where she received a two-hour spa treatment and was dressed in silk robes before being ushered through a door. Each step she took brought her closer to the powerful presence she had sensed earlier. Although the room was dimly lit, her head was spinning from the rush of blood, making it difficult for her to see clearly.

The room emanated a soft aroma of burnt wood and citrus, which added to Cerys's dizziness. Before she could comprehend what was happening, she found herself standing before a colossal bed draped in curtains. Seated on its edge was a man who appeared to be in his mid-30s, adorned with a majestic pair of wings made of grey crystalline feathers. He was completely unclothed, and his glowing blue eyes seemed to pierce straight through her soul, leaving her feeling exposed before him.

Despite the lack of emotion in his eyes, his breathtaking appearance had overwhelmed Cerys's senses, making her lose her reason. He stretched out his hand, and without any thought, she took it. She was oblivious to the fact that her robe had disappeared as they immediately began the ritual to conceive a child. When they were done, he held her in his arms as she drifted off to sleep. She could feel his loneliness and his sense of duty, and there was hardly any lust involved. Cerys could not comprehend why he did what he did, as they barely spoke during that time or the seven other times they had sex before she was confirmed pregnant and moved to her own house in the city.

That was the last time she saw him until one day when she was already an elderly lady in her 60s, and she heard his voice in her head. It was the same voice that had mesmerized her all those years before. He asked her, "Would you like to accompany me in my final days here?"

She didn't hesitate to agree, and in an instant, her world began to spin. When it stopped, she found herself in a garden filled with lovely flowers and bushes, alongside four other women. Two of them appeared to be around her age, while one was obviously older and the other younger. Then he appeared from a distance, walking towards them. It had been 40 years since she last saw him, but he looked like he had aged less than a decade. It was the progenitor at the age of 215.

"Welcome back to Genesis Island," he said with his arms spread wide and a stunning smile on his face. He looked different from before in terms of the amount of emotion he was expressing. The women were bewildered because this was nothing like the Genesis Island they had been to. If before it was like a metropolitan city, now it was more like an African holiday resort.

"Excuse me, sir progenitor..." one of the ladies murmured.

"Effiong, that's the name I was given here," he interrupted. "If you're wondering why I stopped inviting people here, I don't have the time to raise more children. If you're wondering why there's no one around, I sent them all away. If you're wondering why the environment has changed... well, I wanted to be comfortable in my last years here."
