Chapter 5 - The Military Academy Part:1

When I arrived at the capital, I was overwhelmed by the sheer size and bustle of the city. The streets were crowded with people going about their daily business, and the air was filled with the sounds of carriages rumbling by, vendors hawking their wares, and the chatter of countless voices. It was so different from my hometown, which is a province. Before heading to the Academy, I decided to explore the capital and see what it had to offer. As I walked along the streets, taking in the sights and sounds of the bustling city, I heard a faint voice coming from an alleyway. Curious, I made my way towards the source of the sound and peered into the dark alley. "There, I saw a bunch of guys beating a man with silver hair and black eyes. I realized that he was a half-demon and half-human, and he appeared to be about the same age as me."

Shocked and horrified, I hesitated for a moment before rushing towards the scene. Without thinking, I stepped in and shouted, "Stop it! What are you doing!

The group of guys turned to face me, their expressions turning from anger to surprise. One of them stepped forward and sneered, "Mind your own business, kid. This has nothing to do with you."

But I couldn't just stand by and watch as someone was being beaten up. I felt a surge of anger and adrenaline, and I knew I had to do something. Without another word, I lunged forward and grabbed one of the attackers by the arm, trying to pull him away from the man on the ground.

"To my surprise, the attacker stumbled and fell to the ground, looking dazed and disoriented. Emboldened by my success, I turned to face the other attackers, ready to fight. However, five of them quickly surrounded me, and one of them started to attack. I swiftly dodged his attack and countered with a powerful kick, sending him tumbling to the ground. The others rushed towards me, but I managed to keep them at bay with a flurry of punches and kicks. One of the guys had a knife and he said, 'Let's see if you can defend against this.' He started to attack, and we exchanged blows and grappled for control. In the chaos, I managed to disarm him and grabbed his knife." with my left hand, while continuing to fight off the others with my right. With the knife in hand, I had a newfound confidence, and I used it to my advantage, striking out at the attackers with deadly precision.

The attackers began to retreat, realizing they were no match for me. As they fled, I turned my attention to the half-demon who was lying on the ground, his silver hair and black eyes staring up at me. I could see the pain and fear in his eyes, and I knew that he needed my help.

Without hesitation, I rushed to his side and helped him to his feet. "Are you okay?" I asked, concern in my voice. He looked up at me, his black eyes flashing with gratitude. "Thank you," he said, his voice weak but sincere. "I thought I was done for." My name Is Alexander Schneizel

I smiled at him. "No problem, glad I could help. My name is Frederick Wilhelm," I said as we shook hands. "Thank you," he repeated. "I owe you one.

"Don't worry about it," I replied, waving off his gratitude. "Do you need any help getting out of here?"

Alexander hesitated for a moment before nodding. "Yes, please. I don't think I can make it on my own."

Alright, let's go," I said, and we started making our way out of the alleyway. As we walked, Alexander filled me in on what had happened. He had been walking alone when the group of attackers had jumped him, likely due to his demon heritage. He had managed to put up a fight, but was outnumbered and outmatched.

"I don't understand why they hate us," Alexander said bitterly. "It's not like we chose to be demon."

"I know," I said sympathetically. "But unfortunately, ignorance and fear often lead to hatred and violence."

We walked in silence for a while, navigating the winding streets of the city until we reached a safe place. Alexander thanked me again and said he would be okay from there. I watched him go, feeling a sense of unease as he disappeared into the crowd. Something about him seemed different, and I couldn't shake the feeling that our paths would cross again.

I decided to head towards the Academy, my thoughts still lingering on Alexander and the encounter in the alleyway. As I walked, I couldn't help but wonder what it must be like to be a demon in a world that often viewed them with suspicion and hostility. It was a stark reminder of the many injustices that existed in society, and I vowed to do what I could to fight against them.

Finally, I arrived at the Military Academy. I made my way to the admissions office, where the line was long. When it was my turn, I was greeted by a stern-looking officer who said, "Before I interview you, can you put your hands in this Crystal ball to see if you have mana?"

I hesitated for a moment, taken aback by the sudden request. I had heard of mana before but had never been asked to demonstrate it. I cautiously placed my hands in the ball, unsure of what to expect. Suddenly, the crystal ball emitted a white light that grew brighter and brighter until the officer told me that it was enough and I could take my hands off. The white light then turned into darkness and the crystal ball exploded, leaving the officer shocked.

I stumbled back, disoriented by the sudden explosion. As the smoke cleared, I saw that the crystal ball was shattered into countless pieces. The officer stood frozen, a look of shock and disbelief on his face

What just happened?" I asked, my heart pounding in my chest.

The officer shook his head, still in a state of shock. "I... It seems you have a strong mana output, but it's not the first time that this has happened."

I looked at him, surprised by his words. "What do you mean?"

"Some of the recruits have high mana that they crack the crystal ball when they test their magic, but yours is even stronger. It caused the crystal ball to explode," the officer explained.

"Anyway, it seems that you do have mana, which means you can use magic or spells. You will be put in the Mage Marksman regiment," the officer declared.

What is Mage Marksman regiment?

"They are the guys who can shoot from far by transferring their mana into their guns or using spells, and they are most likely assigned far from the frontline to support the Line Infantry from afar," the officer explained

So The Mage Marksman regiment's role is similar to snipers in the old world, as both are specialized units trained to engage the enemy from a distance with precision and accuracy. They are both crucial components of military strategy and can greatly impact the outcome of battles.

"Did the officer not notice the crystal ball turn dark before it exploded? Does this indicate that I have both dark and light magic?"

"With all the interviews and tests passed, I had been accepted into the Military Academy and started my training as soon.

as I entered the academy grounds. It was a massive complex, with various training facilities, classrooms, and dormitories for the cadets.""

"As I settled into my dormitory, I saw a man with features of a demihuman and wondered if he was an Honorary Citizen. In Gernmania, other races could be granted Honorary Citizenship as long as they were human or humanlike, such as Elves, Dwarves, and Demihumans. However, Demons were excluded from this privilege as they were not recognized as human-like. The easiest way to become an Honorary Citizen was to be born into nobility, or to have made significant contributions to the Empire."

I decided to approach the man and introduce myself. 'Hi, my name is Frederick Wilhelm,' I said with a smile."

The demihuman man looked up and returned the smile. "Nice to meet you, Frederick," he said. "My name is Alaric Auclair .

"It's great to meet you, Alaric," I replied,

curious about his demihuman features. "If you don't mind me asking, what kind of demihuman are you?"

Alaric chuckled. "I'm a dog folk," he replied"

"Oh, that's why you have dog-like ears," I said, noticing his pointed ears. "I've never met a dog-folk before."

"Well, now you have," Alaric said with a grin. "And don't worry, I don't bite."

"What's it like living in Gernmania as a demihuman?" I asked Alaric.

Alaric's expression became serious. "It's not always easy," he said. "Even though we are granted Honorary Citizenship, there are still some who see us as lesser beings. We have to work twice as hard to prove ourselves, and even then, we may not be fully accepted."

"That's terrible," I said sympathetically. "I don't understand why people can't see beyond our differences and just treat each other with kindness and respect."

"I wish it were that simple," Alaric said with a sigh. "But unfortunately, there will always be those who seek to divide us. That's why it's important for people like us to stick together and support each other."

I nodded in agreement. "You're right. We may be different, but we're all human, or humanlike, and we should treat each other with compassion and understanding."

"But I have also met many kind and accepting people who judge me based on my character rather than my appearance. It's all about finding the right community and support system."

I nodded, understanding that it must be tough for demihumans living in a society that doesn't fully accept them. "Thank you for sharing your perspective, Alaric," I said. "I hope things improve for demihumans in Gernmania and beyond."

"As Alaric and I were chatting, an instructor in full military uniform entered the room, his voice booming with authority. 'Attention, cadets,' he declared. 'I am Sergeant Felix Graf, your instructor for the One year. You will follow my orders without question and show the utmost discipline and respect. Is that understood!'"

We all responded in unison, "Yes, sir!"

Good," he said, his gaze sweeping over us. "For now, sleep tight. Tomorrow, your training will begin," he added with a stern expression before turning and leaving the room.

Alaric and I exchanged a quick glance before settling into our respective beds. The thought of the intense training we were about to endure made me nervous. I closed my eyes, trying to calm my thoughts, and drifted off to sleep, wondering what challenges the next day would bring.
