After ordering his knights to take care of Marquess Lysander's corpse and collecting all the corpses of human sacrifices in the basement, Edmund met Penelope who was resting under a tree.
Chris, who saw that his master had arrived, immediately looked down and disappeared. Then, Edmund knelt in front of Penelope. The woman leaned her back against the tree trunk while hugging her knees. She hid part of her face in her knees and her golden eyes looked at Edmund who was smiling at her.
"Why are you still crying?" asked the Duke in a gentle tone. He gently grabbed Penelope's hand and took his wife's body into his arms. Then, Edmund kissed Penelope's forehead and stroked her back affectionately. "Did Marquess Lysander hurt you?"
Penelope sobbed and shook her head. She knew she had to be strong now to be able to face the monsters and protect everyone. But, she couldn't do it yet. Not, after what Marquess Lysander had told her.
