Chereads / Hunt of the Blood Phoenix / Chapter 13 - Druid

Chapter 13 - Druid

I and Alice watch as the four participants have just entered the arena. Asher uses a battle axe a little shorter than he is, Michael has two short swords, the human has a greatsword while the elf has one elvish sword. Elvish swords are bent on the tip and are lighter than other swords of the same size. The arena is enchanted so even though it's day it doesn't affect Ahser. Normally he would be weaker in the sun like me.

"I never think I got your names? I'm Michael and this is Asher"

"I'm Falos" The elf says.

"And I'm Oliver" The human says.

"Are you ready?" I ask.

"We are" Aher says.

"We too" Falos says afterwards.

After I see they have gotten good positions, are focused and look ready I say "let the fight begin".

Oliver starts off by using a skill and right after a stone spike shoots up under Asher who is able to dodge and runs towards Oliver.

Michael also starts to run towards Falos who has gotten some armor of leaves where thornes are sticking out on his arms and legs. That looks painful to get hurt from and a handy skill. Protection and quite literally thorn damage.

When Asher comes close enough to Oliver he slashes at him horizontally and spins around in the process. Oliver dodge the ax before slashing with his sword. Asher kicks the blade on his way back and slashes again at Oliver. Oliver is taken by surprise and this time the ax almost hits him, he is just able to dodge it, but lose his balance in the process. Asher uses this opening to slash again, but has to dodge the stone spike coming from the ground. With the time bought Oliver has regained his balance and just in time to block the ax that is coming his way with the blade of his sword.

While they were fighting the other two weren't standing still either. Michael and Falos are currently clashing with their swords. It's clear to see that Falos is better at sword play, but with Michaels dual wielding and faster attacks no one has the upper hand.

"That armor skill Falos used probably will give him some stealth, agility, attack and healing boosts when higher level. He might even get some of it now, but it will be so little that it almost has no effect. But it can become powerful in the later levels" Alice says.

"I agree. Michael hasn't used any skills yet. When we trained he sometimes shot some ice spikes but it was hard to see. He probably doesn't want to reveal his skill too much in the open" I say to Alice.

Suddenly one ice spike grows on the tip of both of Michael's swords. He classes with one of his swords. Falos blocks it, the ice spike shoots off the sword, but Falos is able to dodge it, but has to hastily block the other sword that also shoots off the spike on impact. This time the spike hit Falos in his right arm that also is the arm he uses for his sword. He drops the sword and surender when he gets two sword tips to his neck.

"I surrender. It was a good fight. I hope we can do it again sometimes" Falos says to Michael.

"Looking forward to it" They shake hands and go to the side lines.

"Not going to help your friend?" Falos says.

"If I help him, he won't be able to prove himself for those girls" Michael answers.

"Why do you want to join their team so much anyway?"

"My friend suddenly got obsessed when he learned that the cute girl's race was something strong. He believes we can get much from her if we join her team. And they are pretty girls so I don't mind"

When they got to the sidelines they sat down to watch the other two fight.

Asher jumps to the left, dodging a stone spike. And swing his ax that gets a red glow surrounding it. Oliver, who is unable to dodge in time, blocks the ax with his sword. BANG. The ax creates a bang on impact that sends Olivers, sword flying. Doing a last resort attack Oliver creates a stone spike from the ground that fails to hit Asher who is able to hit Oliver with the dull end of the ax.

"And the match is over. The winner is Asher and Michael. Good fight to all of you" I say.

Asher and Oliver shake hands before agreeing to fight again sometimes.

After Oliver and Falos left the other two came to us.

"So, how did we prove" Asher says excited to join the team.

"You failed" I say. Asher and Micahel both look at me shocked before it turns to confusion to again change to disappointment. "I'm joking, of course you pass. Welcome to the team" I say which this time makes them look relieved before happy.

"Welcome to the team," Alise says.

"Thanks" Asher says.

"So I understood it as you already have one more member and are searching for a supporter?" Michael asks.

"Yes we have one archer who is long ranged and searching for a healer who we hope has some support skills" I answer.

"Is the other person searching for one?" Asher asks.

"Yes. His name is Ethan and is probably stalking some girls by now" I say. Asher and Michael look weird at me. Probably thinking why I would team up with a stalker.

Then Alice starts opening her mouth "Sophia and Ethan have been flirting and teasing since this morning. Currently there isn't much romance 'yet', so if one of you is aiming or are interested in Sophia you better not wait too long. And I'm lesbian by the way so no use trying here boys"

"Hey I and that douchebag aren't flirting" Both Asher and Michael are giving me a doubting look after my comment. "Hmph. Lets go help him find a healer" I start walking out of the arena.

Once we arrive at the support and healing training area we don't find many people training. We do however soon find Ethan. "Hey douchebag, found anyone yet".

"How did stalker turn to douchebag?" Ethan asked confused why his nickname changed.

"Don't bother the small details. But have you found anyone yet?" I repeat my question.

"No, I haven't. There aren't many here this early. The most I have done is spread the word that a group is looking for a healer." He answered.

"At least you did something useful while. We on the other hand found a two in one deal. We checked if they were worth it of course and they were. Meet our two new members, Asher and Michael"

"Nice to meet you, I'm Asher"

"And I'm Michael, it's a pleasure"

"Same, I'm Ethan"

"Now that we are five, why don't we split up and head to different parts of the academy?" Alice suggested.

"That sounds like a good plan. And Ethan, what did you say exactly about our team looking for a healer?"

"I said that a team of three is looking for a healer. The other two is girls, one short vampire ish looking girl with wings and one pretty fox girl with three tails"

"Hey! Why did you only complement Alice's looks and not mine?! If you said cute and pretty girl everyone would know it was me" I said, feeling offended.

"They won't need that. Few girls look like a vampire with bird wings" Ethan said.

"Ok, enough with your flirting. Now let's go and look for a healer" Alice said.

"This is a really lively team" Micheal said.

"That's for sure" Asher agreed.

We split up and I headed for the library. There is probably someone there looking for books about techniques, skills and classes for healing and support.

Once I arrive I'm surprised to see how few are here. Well it makes sense considering how most would be with or try to make friends, explore or try to find a team.

I look at the people at the library. None of them looks like healers, so I leave to try my luck at another place.

There is supposed to be a garden or something here. Lest check it out. Maybe I will find someone there.

When I arrive at my destination I see a park where there is a fountain with benches around, flowers, trees, some paths to walk and a dam with fish in it. It looks pretty and I feel refreshed just by being here. I start walking around. The trees have pink leaves and flowers. I saw some pictures of similar trees from before the great fall. I think they belonged to a country called Japan. Those trees were almost as pretty as these ones. On one bench is a girl leaning on a boy. They seem to be in their own world.

Let's explore this park some more and with that thought I begin to walk around. While looking at the pretty view I suddenly bump into someone and lose my balance heading face first towards the ground. Before I hit the ground the person I bumped into grabs by hand and pulls me up. "Sorry about that. I didn't look where I was going" the female person said.

"No, I should be sorry. I was too busy looking at the pretty view whe…" I stop speaking when I see her. She is a beautiful girl with green hair, blue eyes and something that looks like a tiara made of leaves. "Wow, are you a druid?" I ask.

"Yes I am, what about you?" She said.

"That's not important right now. What is important is this question. Do you have nature and healing powers?"

"Yes I do. Why?"

"Are your healing powers strong?"

"I would say they are compared to others my level"

"Do you have support abilities or skills"

"Yes I do that too. Are you scouting me?"

"Yes. Want to join my team. We are a team of five and only need a healer with support so you are perfect"

"Hmm, I would like to see the rest of the team before I decide"

"That's acceptable. Wow the time sure flies by" I say as I pick up the phone to contact the rest of my team. "It's soon dinner time. Why don't we invite the rest of the team to dinner." I say as I message the others.

"Sure thats sounds like plan"

"What's your name by the way? Mines Sophia"

"Sara"

"I have a question, Sara. That tiara. Is it real. Like a real tiara of leaves growing out of your head?

"It is"

"Wow, that's kinda cool. And it looks pretty on you"

"Did you know that you are quite cute?"

"Of course I am" I say with my hands on my waist which makes her giggle.

"May I ask what race you are? I have never met another person who is tameable and looks like a vampire with wings"

I froze when I heard that. "How did you know that I was tameable?"

"I gained a passive unique to druids where I know the status of nature, wildlife and other creatures around me that do not count as monsters or humanoid creatures. I know that you are tameable which means that the system does not categorize you as a humanoid creature. But do not worry. I do not plan to try to tame you. That would just be rude and even if I wanted to, the skill tells me that it would be almost impossible with my experience, skills and level"

"That's good to know. You almost gave me a heart attack. Well if you become someone I trust and become close to I may tell you my race"

"Great then that is what I shall do"
