The Battle Academy campus was a huge and imposing structure, filled with buildings with a touch of cyberpunk. The colors blue and purple were predominant, giving a feeling of futuristic modernity that contrasted with the classical architecture of the city around it. It was easy to get lost in the endless corridors, but I knew exactly where I needed to go.
Next to me was Mia, who insisted incessantly on accompanying me. I wasn't very willing, but I ended up giving in and letting her come. It was night and we chose this time to avoid meeting too many people at the academy.
After walking through discreet places, we finally arrived at the entrance of the second year sector. It was a huge metal gate, guarded by five security guards. "What's the plan for getting in?" I asked Mia. She reached out to me, as if she was about to launch an attack, and said, "Don't say anything."
Suddenly, my arm that was in my view disappeared, as did Mia, who became invisible. I was scared at first sight, after all, I had just seen something insane, but I kept calm and tried to visualize my body. As expected, there was nothing. I was completely invisible, unable to see my foot or any other part of my body.
"Hey, hold my hand so you don't get lost," Mia said to me, while touching my hand. It seemed that, unlike me, she could visualize me even though I was invisible. Without hesitation, I held her hand and we began to put our plan to invade the second year sector into practice.
The gate that separates the first year sector from the second year sector is small, but we decided to enter through the front door. We knew that there were mana sensors that detected any trace that passed over them, which meant we had to pass by the five guards. Fortunately, Mia's invisibility made the task less complicated.
We walked calmly towards the guards and stopped in front of them. Through the pressure sensations emanating from them, we realized that they were rank D, while we, mere rank F, were clearly at a disadvantage. However, Mia used her illusion ability to suddenly confuse the guards. She created an image of a second-year student passing through them, and the guards, distracted, allowed us to pass.
We moved forward, sneaking through the crowded corridors of the second year, avoiding any contact with the students. We came close to a main field where the second year party was happening. Mia and I hid behind a pillar to observe the situation.
The loud music, flashing lights, and dancing students seemed like a movie scene. I could feel my heart beating faster, but the adrenaline of being on a secret mission kept me going.
Suddenly, a familiar voice echoed through the field. It was the leader of the second year, Tatsuya, who began to speak about the party and how they were a united class. We knew he was one of the most powerful students in the second year, so we had to be careful not to be discovered.
While Tatsuya spoke, we took advantage of the distraction and quickly moved through the party. Unfortunately, Mia started bleeding from her nose and the invisibility began to fade. She was out of mana to maintain it until the tower.
"Hey! Are you okay?" I asked, concerned. "I'm fine, let's keep going," Mia replied as she wiped the blood from her nose. But I knew she was far from okay.
"Damn!" I mentally cursed the situation we were in and put Mia's arms around my neck to help her walk. Suddenly, without my knowledge, Tatsuya told his helpers, "Those two people don't seem to belong to the second year. Capture them for me, but don't hurt them, okay?"
The 30 men who seemed to be the party helpers, responsible for serving everyone, nodded and began to walk discreetly among the dancing people. Tatsuya turned up the music, which made people even more excited.
Without any idea of the situation, I started walking with Mia on my shoulders through the people. Thanks to the festive atmosphere, it seemed like we would be able to pass through everyone smoothly. The Tower of the Golden Flower could already be seen in the distance. Its structure was something spectacular, something that made me forget the situation I was in...
Suddenly, I felt a tight grip on my shoulder and looked back to see who it was. When I saw the 30 men surrounding us, without hesitation, I released Mia and conjured a burst of air to push them away. The people dancing nearby were affected and found the sudden push unusual. But before they could realize what was happening, Tatsuya grabbed the microphone and yelled, grabbing everyone's attention: "Let's enjoy today as if it were our last day on earth!" His voice created an even greater atmosphere, leaving people even more excited and pumped up.
I surrendered to that atmosphere and, to the sound of music and people dancing, I began to face the 30 men...
