Chereads / Youth: A Love to Last (BL) / Chapter 19 - After Class

Chapter 19 - After Class

Mr. Robert, saying his ending statements after teaching the class, walks away. A book on his hand as he slides the door open. The students are packing up their things, ready to go home.

Someone has been shouting for the cleaners to stay, to not run away from the responsibilities assigned to them. Fruitless action. There are already students steadily slippering away without notice.

One strap on his shoulder, Lucas waits.

Owen was still sitting on the chair, life drained from his body. Looking so lifeless.

''How about we skip this?'' At last, in the middle of the noise, Owen speaks up.

''You want to? Wasn't tomorrow's agenda will be our social death?''

Owen slumps his body on the table. A whine slipping from his lips.

''Lucas. Don't. Just don't remind me about this matter anymore. Just. Let us just skip this awful punishment.'' Owen straightens up his body, full of conviction that they are not required to go and don't have to believe Mr. Evans words.

Lucas' eye twitches.

''Owen, does it not drill into your mind that if we skip and ignore Mr. Evans words, the public humiliation will not be enough. Maybe, if we push him to the limit, he will be calling our parents to school. Would you want that?'' Lucas questions, fed up with Owen.

Without his permission, he reaches out to grab the notebooks and pens sprawled on their shared table. One by one, he places the things inside Owen's bag in an organized manner.

''Right, why haven't I thought about that.'' Owen mumbles.

Owen dejectedly stands up as Lucas passes the bag to him.

''No need to be sad about it. Wouldn't you see your bestie?'' Lucas teases knowing that in fact, Owen hates Kristoff with passion.

Owen scowls the same scowl Lucas has whenever he hears something irritating.

''You. Stop teasing me with that awful goddamn man. He is the culprit why we were involved. And that Adrian? He is your rival. Are you happy to see him? '' This time, the question was asked to Lucas.

Adrian. Lucas could not say that he was happy to see him. He had been warned multiple times to stay away from the youngster. Having a glimpse of him, the conclusion he had is: he will be staying away from him this moment onwards. After all, something is stirring inside of him and he does not like it.

The 360 degrees swap of personality he had seen right there and then made him see a personality Adrian hides. Normal for their kind. Coming from one of the wealthiest families, it is possible to have a facade. Everyone has this to interact day to day.

Huh, Adrian is occupying his mind. He does not want to think about it anymore. Adrian is irrelevant to his life. After this incident, he would distance himself. He will no longer pry.

Lucas did not answer Owen, instead he beckons him and answer vaguely, '' When we are done, we could just ignore their existence.''

Owen huffs. In fact, Owen hopes so.

They stroll towards the teacher's office, hoping to find Mr. Evans.

-

Arriving at their destination, Lucas sees the two present. Standing upright in front of the teacher who is busy with his paperworks.

"Lucas? Owen?"

He turns around.

"Mr. Robert." Lucas greets faintly with a smile. It vanishes quickly.

"What are you–" Mr. Robert halts his next words. Pupils shifting from the two. Realization dawns upon him.

He snaps his finger in recognition.

"You're here to find Mr. Evans. Are you two involved with the brawl?"

Owen looks away, ashamed. Lucas nodded positively. Notorious for his face being thick, he straight up admitted it.

Mr. Robert made an oh sound. He then shrugs.

"Off you go." He did not comment any further.

Lucas noticed the twitch of his finger. The quirk of his lips upwards before it quickly fades away.

Mr. Robert finds it funny enough. He tilts his head in thought.

Owen was guilty that his homeroom teacher had known his students were being included in such things as he tugs on Lucas' uniform.

They then walk towards the direction of Mr. Evans. Five meters away from the two.

At that moment, Mr. Evans looks up.

"Good. I thought you two would not take me seriously." Mr. Evans stood up and raised an eyebrow.

"You four. Owen, move here a bit."

Owen takes only a half step.

Mr. Evans sighs.

From their attitude, it will be hard to have peace. Mr. Evans dread the months that will come.

"Owen." He softly calls out.

Owen slightly jolts. Indeed, he should be getting near them but the awful smirk on Kristoff's face right now surges a feeling of annoyance on him. Distancing himself would be a help for him to reign in the tickling desire to punch someone right at their face.

Lucas takes multiple steps, pulling on Owen's wrist at the same. He stands beside Kristoff, clearing his throat.

Mr. Evans is satisfied. At least, Lucas knew what he wanted even though he did not say it.

"Okay, this is my instruction. You need to submit me a speech for tomorrow's morning assembly. I only need two speeches, you can work together. You can also pick who would be the one making a speech. Five hundred words before you go home." Mr. Evans states, walking towards a wide table with four chairs.

"You can sit here and do your speech. I'll be waiting there if you have any questions." Mr. Evans, with papers on his hands slides it on the table.

He then walks back to his work table to continue on his work, ignorant of the teachers peeking from time to time and listening.

Owen and Lucas exchange looks. Owen leaned in and quietly spoke," I don't want to sit in the middle."

"We don't have to be near them, idiot. Just pull the chairs here."

Lucas ignores the burning gazes on him. He carries one chair while Owen carries the other. Positioning it in the place far away from the other two chairs, they sat down.

Clearly, the division is apparent.
