Chapter 115 - Soldiering on once again...

A while later

Galan sniffed and wiped his face, picking up the shovel and starting to dig up Whitebeard's grave. Tears continued to roll down his cheeks as the hole got bigger and bigger…

Time passed and the sun started to set…

Galan looked at the coffin and opened it, seeing Whitebeard's corpse. It was cleaned up and prepared with a new set of clothes, his coat wrapped around him and a satisfied smile on his lips.

The missing part of his head was wrapped with his black bandana.

Galan shook and grit his teeth, pulling apart Whitebeard's hands. He took the box and smashed the wood, pulling out the Quake fruit.

He held the fruit and cried, as he put it inside Whitebeard's chest. His hands covered in blood as he buried the fruit deep in Whitebeard's chest, replacing where his heart was.

Galan took his hands out and wiped his nose before cleaning his hands with his shirt, ruining it… But what did he care? He crossed Whitebeard's arms in front of his chest and said with a trembling tone "Ma-May you rest in peace…" before closing the coffin.

Galan climbed out of the grave and started filling it back in, his face covered in blood and tears. Every shovel full of dirt felt heavier and heavier as the time passed.

The sun painted a gorgeous blood orange color in the sky, painting the world in its soft tones.

Almost as though it was saying farewell to a legendary man…

A while later

Galan looked at the fresh dirt and picked up the pieces of the box, looking at the bag of seeds left behind.

He kneeled down and poked holes in the fresh soil, planting these flower seeds meticulously. He pulled a canteen from his waist and sprinkled water all over these flowers, swallowing back his emotions.

When everything was done, the only thing that remained was Galan sitting on his knees in front of a grave with a dirty shovel.

He held his head and roared at the sky, crying and screaming his emotions out.

He didn't want this.

He didn't want to bury his friends like this.

This was just another cruel joke from God…

He continued living while everyone around him died, right?

This was the nightmare God chose for his life? For their own amusement, right!?

Suddenly, Olvia hugged him from behind and cried, "It's okay… everything's gonna be okay, Galan…" her face was full of pain and sadness as she hugged him tightly, providing the only comfort she could…

Her gentle whispers singing in his chaotic mind, "I'm here… It's okay… just let everything out, you'll feel better…" he continued to cry as Olvia held him tight, not letting go at all.

The next morning

Galan was kneeling in a daze as Olvia hugged him tight, her eyes closed.

Marco and the rest watched from behind them, sadness written on all their faces…

Galan suddenly stood up and picked up Olvia, he grabbed the laser rifle and shovel, before turning around. He ignored everyone and walked down the hill with moderate steps, walking away from the grave.

Galan boarded the small boat and put down the rifle. He tossed the box fragments and shovel into the ocean before sailing away, sitting down while holding Olvia in his lap. He held her tight and close to his chest, leaning over her as she slept in his arms, all while the small boat gently rode the waves, leaving the island behind it.
