Chapter 48 - The 'Rosinante' Problem

6 months passed

Galan was sitting in his office and writing in a notebook as he read a report from Sakazuki.

Unfortunately, he hadn't caught any pirates of value and he also hadn't died. Galan was reading the report with an expressionless face. He sent this guy there to go wild and now he's suddenly calm?

He frowned to himself, did Sakazuki know? He narrowed his eyes a bit, maybe he should make a few calls to nail this coffin shut…

Just as he was thinking, Sengoku ran in, kicking the door open in a panic.

Galan looked at the door calmly, saying slowly "You're paying for the door." Sengoku ignored him, slapping the desk with worry "I need help!" Galan held out his hand, blocking Sengoku from smashing his desk in half, he remembered that Kong used to smash his desk a lot. It was a shame that the old man was gone.

Galan pointed to the chair in front of him while writing in the notebook, "What happened." Sengoku sat down and said quickly "You know Rosy went after Doflamingo, right?! Well! We- Um! We-" Galan held out his hand and said "Let me stop you right there."

Sengoky fell silent and Galan continued slowly "YOU. Not we. You headed this operation with Rosinante, asking Tsuru for help. Is he dead?" Sengoku jumped in shock "No! But we think his cover is blown!"

Galan let out a breath from his nose, looking at Sengoku, saying "Explain." as he put down the pen in his hand, closed the book, and turned to the chessboard, putting the pieces to their starting positions.

He started playing against himself as Sengoku explained, "The plan was, he infiltrates Doflamingo's crew and reports back to me and Tsuru, afterwards, Tsuru would corner their next move! But Rosy disappeared for 6 months and Tsuru couldn't find them at all!"

Galan moved the pieces with his fingertips before pausing and looking at Sengoku, rubbing his eyes with one hand. He sighed and said "I thought you were smarter than this…" Sengoku shouted "How was I supposed to know he would disappear?!"

Galan finished the chess game and said "Because you're not supposed to think it would succeed. You should have backup plans. You shouldn't trust Tsuru to pick up the slack. You shouldn't have 100% blind confidence in Rosinante. You shouldn't believe everything he tells you. You shouldn't expect everything to go the way it was planned to go and you shouldn't have trusted anyone other than yourself for this Operation!"

Sengoku clenched his fists and retorted "Sorry! I have faith in my comrades!" Galan shorted "And where did that bring you? Back to me." Sengoku snorted and said "You should have faith in your men as the Fleet Admiral, but you don't trust anyone but yourself! How are you meant to bring peace to the world like this!?"

Galan looked up at him asking "And you can do better? Bring peace? Stop fantasizing like a child. Maybe one day there will be peace in this world but we'll be long dead before that happens. I will bring change to this world with my own hands thats what you seem to keep forgetting…"

He got up and left the room, his coat fluttering behind him, "If you want something done correctly, you will do it yourself." Sengoku clenched his fists as Galan left the office. He didn't want Galan's help because it always went too far.

Galan returned home and took the snails out of the garden, setting them up on the kitchen table as Olvia walked down stairs from the shower, patting down her hair with a towel.

She looked at him and he ignored her, lighting a cigarette as he heard an array of voices "Raven." before he could speak, he heard many voices speaking, "Hey hey hey! It's a reunion! Hahahah! Ryuga, how's the New World?! HAHAHAHAHA!"

"Shut the fuck up, Bolin! Don't make me come there and fuck the whore you're seeing!"

"Ryuga, say some more shit and I'll scalp you! I swear to god you'll go back to your backwater village and beg for a job from your slut ex-wife!"

"HHAHAHAHAHAHA"

"You still laughing, Yero?! Last time you gagged on that Brothel job!"

"!!! That wasn't my fault! It's a brothel not a fucking tranny barn! I'm still traumatized!"

"Who's the pretty lady? Wanna introduce yourself? Hehe~"

"Talk to me again and you'll be tasting your own cock."

There were several whistles and then "Good one, Nikolai! Hahaha! Yeah you sure showed her! Gahahahah! I thought you were a casanova? I used your lines, bastard!"

Olvia was stunned and covered her mouth, laughing.

The Snails fell silent and there was a whisper "The boss… is with a woman? Oh god! She sounds so cute! Boss, how could you?! I knew men were trash…"

Galan didn't flinch at all, exhaling smoke as he asked "Are you done?" The snails all swallowed and fell silent, saying in unison "Your orders, Raven." Olvia looked at Galan curiously, he managed to calm them all down in an instant!

If she wasn't mistaken, the woman on the line was the leader of the Kuja force!

Galan crossed his arms and said "An undercover op on Doflamingo went belly up. News is Government's got a deal for a Devil Fruit on Minion Island. Goes by the name of Op-Op fruit, 5 Billion on this deal, but the most likely situation is our Officer is swimming in the dark. Latest intel is his position is compromised, Doflamingo knows. However I wouldn't rule out the possibility of betrayal."

Galan exhaled smoke from his nose, continuing "Target was his brother, both CDs fallen from grace. Need a team for Observation and Rescue. If he turns out to be a double agent, eliminate him. Only Rosinante is the target of extraction this time. Everything else is irrelevant."

He paused for a moment and narrowed his eyes, "You're going Black-Out on this one." The snails looked excited and the Kuja leader said "I will perform this mission perfectly!" The other snails snickered and Galan replied "You're grabbing 3 men each and acting as a pirate crew, there is no 'I' in this mission. When I need a one man job, you're at the back of the line, Lilica. Understood?"

The Woman was silent for a few seconds and there was slightly heavy breathing before a frenzied voice replied "I understand, Boss. I love when you treat me like shit." Galan ignored the rest of that comment as the other snails looked like they were holding in their laughter, Olvia furrowed her brows at the snails, what the hell was wrong with this Amazonian?!

Galan looked at the snails saying "4 separate teams, 12 people. If you come into contact with Doflamingo and his crew, you are not to engage." The snails groaned and Galan explained "Sensitive identity and very strong. His cadres are all tricky, I don't want any of you dead-"

A snail teared up, "Boss…" before Galan continued "Waste of resources." the snail froze and cried "Damn it! I was touched!" Galan ignored him, going on "Of course, if you want to act alone, you're more than welcome to. However, don't ever contact me again. Clear?"

4 voices replied in unison "Clear!" Galan nodded and exhaled a cloud of smoke, "Minion Island, 3 weeks. Arrive early and set up around the Island. Ryuga, you're in charge for this particular mission."

Ryuga smiled smugly and Bolin growled "I'm Vice-Captain!" Nikolai gasped "What about me?!" Lilica said coldly, "You can be the clown." Ryuga and Bolin burst into laughter, while Galan said "That'll be all."

Bolin said "Ah boss! I have a report for you." Galan asked with a frown "About the 'Caged Bird'?" Bolin replied "Yeah." Galan said slowly "Call me back in a bit." Bolin nodded, "No problem. Not a big deal."

Galan nodded and closed the channel, sending the snails back to the garden. Olvia sat at the table when he came back, propping her head up with her palm, smiling gently "Quite the cabaret of characters." Galan ignored her, going through the fridge.

She was used to it by now, continuing to speak regardless, "Are all your subordinates like this? So animated? I expected Marines to be like you, tough and silent." Galan still didn't answer her and she sighed, "But I guess, not everyone can be like you. Especially not that Amazonian…"

She smacked her lips, "Really vulgar, that woman! Anyway~ Isn't Rosinante Sengoku's adopted kid?" Galan sat at the table with a glass bottle of juice, he put his notebook down and started writing as he replied "You know him?"

Olvia snorted with pursed lips, thinking about it, "I remember meeting him a while ago. He's a really nice boy, he even helped me with my shopping. I was wearing the blindfold and walking around Marineford to get a better feel for the place a few years ago. You know, I like to go out and pretend to be blind. It's fun."

Galan continued writing as Olvia sighed, "Such a sweet boy. He helped me shop and even offered to walk me home as a guide." she turned to Galan and added "So, I don't understand what you said. How could he betray the Marines for a pirate?" Galan replied simply "Brothers."

Olvia was surprised and replied "Rosinante and Doflamingo are brothers? Celestials??" Galan nodded and tapped on the table, thinking as he went over his writing. Olvia looked away, sighing "That poor boy, maybe not all Celestial Dragons are bad people after all."

Galan ignored her, such a ridiculous statement. He didn't care, he was going to eliminate them all. He had half a mind to blow the entire city to hell in one fell swoop. As for the Slaves, it would be liberating them.

He always gave the broken his own form of mercy, and in Galan's mind they would feel much better dead. At least they wouldn't have to go through this inhumane torture and humiliation.

If he was a slave… He shook his head, not being able to imagine such a fate. He would rather die. Those poor people suffered so much more than he did. His face was firm, that's why he would exterminate all the Celestials!

Olvia looked at his face and smiled at him, asking "What are you thinking?" Galan replied absentmindedly "Killing them all." Olvia giggled and rolled her eyes, saying "So violent. Is that all that goes through your mind? Killing people?"

Galan frowned and said slowly "No." Olvia was interested, asking "No? What else?" he snorted and ignored her again, going back to his notebook. Olvia sighed and shook her head, "One day, maybe you'll tell me."

Highly unlikely.
