Chapter 263 - Rematch With Female Bandit

However, even before they could step on the ruined walls, the bandits were cut to pieces, the bodies strewn all over the place. The culprit merely walked towards the front, glaring at them before slashing with his swords, killing more bandits that tried to enter through the breach.

"Come on! Is that all you got?!"

The city lord let out a laugh of relief, his defenders were brought precious time as a brave man walked to the front and slaughtered the attackers.

Even if he didn't know of the man, he should be someone who had recently entered the city as he would have known anyone powerful enough to be able to clear a line of bandits so easily. Some of the slain ones are at the peak of Genesis Core.

He used his Soul Sense on the young man, yet the truth surprised him greatly, "A 7th Stage Genesis Core!" he exclaimed in surprise. No wonder he never knew of the young man! If he was only at the Genesis Core, he wouldn't pay any attention to them.

Still, for some with low cultivation to tear through the enemies, with some of them being at the Genesis Source realm, the young man likely possessed some extraordinary means to allow him to kill stronger opponents.

He didn't know of the means but as long as the bandits are killed, it's all good in his book. He then shifts his attention towards his foes, two Genesis Lake experts in front of him the sole reason he did not rain down terror upon the bandits.

If he was defeated or worse, killed, then the enemy's conquest of the city is assured. He could not let that happen, as that is the only reason he keep his watch, not planning to give them the chance to use their numerical advantage.

Yet, he could see one of Genesis Lake's bandits staring at the young man.

The female bandit gnashed her teeth, fury can be seen in her eyes. Her subordinates, one that joined the assault had been killed en-masse. If not for the fact she was stared down by a more powerful Genesis Lake expert, she would have killed the one that slain her men.

However, she had a job to do, and so she kept a close watch on the strongest defender, ready to attack him when it was the right time.

Ryker clicked his tongue, another Genesis Source expert being cut by him. Despite his rampage, it seems that none of the experts among the bandits made their move, one above Genesis Source at least.

Though, while killing Genesis Spring experts would lean the battle to their side even more, it is the death of a Genesis Lake expert that would change the tide of the battle.

However, for him to make one of the Genesis Lake experts fall, it is nearly impossible, not because of the wide gap between their cultivation realm, but because of how they could easily escape even if he managed to win their match.

He was strong, just not crazily strong. Still, he had the advantage over the weaker combatants, so he planned to take advantage of that. He began to rampage among the invading bandits once again, killing many before his blade was blocked by someone.

He looked at the person, seeing it as a Genesis Source expert, "Your death is n-" Ryker beheaded the man easily, his attack breaking through the qi barrier the man managed to erect.

He was about to turn towards the rest when he felt a powerful aura locking on him, one he knew belonged to a Genesis Lake expert.

He had two conflicting thoughts at the moment, "Jackpot," and "Uh oh,"

The female bandit sees red. Seeing one of her stronger subordinates, the one closest to reaching the Genesis Sea realm, caused her to forget her objective.

She used her Soul Sense to lock on to the killer before she flew towards the man, ready to avenge her dead man.

The other bandit moved to stop her but was hit by an attack from the city lord, whose eyes seemed to mock his current predicament.

-x-

While he knew he was bound to be targeted by the stronger bandits soon, he didn't expect it to happen so quickly. He barely avoided a large sword, a claymore if he remembered it right. The woman glared at him before a look of realization fell upon them both.

"You are the one to attack my men near the capital!" "You are the one to chase me around the capital!"

Now knowing who the young man is, the bandit let out a vicious smile. She had been seeking revenge on the one that blew their cover, forcing them to retreat from the capital and into another bandit's group territory.

While she was allowed to enter it, the things she had to do to be allowed to stay should remain unspoken. She holds great grudges for the one that displaced her entire group. Now with the person responsible just in front of her eyes, she wouldn't let them go before making them suffer.

Ryker also let out a twisted smile. He also wants revenge on the woman who forced him to run away. Given the dance and his current strength, he believed he stood a chance to win the fight.

The two stared at each other before the bandits made her move. A stream of yellow light heads towards him, seemingly possessing the power to tear through a small hill.

Yet, Ryker didn't back down. He swung his sword, and a white light infused with purple lightning headed towards the yellow light. The two attacks clashed, causing the weaker cultivators on the field to be sent flying away, or if they were more unlucky, die from the clash.

The bandit's gleeful expression morphed into one of shock. What she presumed to be an easy fight turned out different from what she thought. Mostly, her attack seemed to be repelled by the young man's attack.

The two attacks clashed for a brief moment before a large explosion occurred, making the surrounding area, which already looked destroyed enough, look even worse than before.

The rest of the Genesis Lake experts looked at the clash, with a look of surprise on their faces.

"Who was that?" one of the Genesis Lake experts of the city asked, a look of awe on their face.

"I'm not sure. What I'm sure of is that person is a hero for this city," the city lord said, his eyes falling upon the two people.

When the dust was cleared, the Genesis Lake experts saw two people glaring at one another.
