The formation specialist began to inspect his work. It didn't take long before she gave him a nod, indicating his work was good.
"Good job. This is the best work I have ever seen from a beginner. But don't get too cocky. If you want to increase your rank and get better with any of the professions, the only way to do so is to keep practicing and learning," she advised him.
Ryker nodded. While the auxiliary profession wouldn't be his priority, it will still be something he wouldn't forget so casually as the benefits coming from it are too much for him to ignore.
"Now then, I want you to meet with the president of this branch," the word spoken by the woman actually made him pause before he gave a look like the woman had grown a second head.
Unperturbed, the woman continued, "Most of the executives, the higher up of the Craftsman Alliance branch in this city had learned of your ability. That's why they are so interested in you. After all, if they can nurture you well, they will likely get the branch to rise in rank,"
"Oh," he dumbly said. However, in his mind, he was screaming. After all, he didn't plan to stay in the city for too long. While telling the formation specialist might be a good thing, the higher-ups had called him themselves, so it is not appropriate to not meet them first.
He let the formation specialist lead him to the office. Unsurprisingly, the door to the office is beautifully decorated. Then again, if the so-called 'Craftsman Alliance," had a dull-looking door, they would lose a lot of faces.
The woman opened the door, before letting him in. When she watched him remain at the edge of the door, she spoke, "Go in, I can't go in as they don't want to see anyone else. Don't worry, they will not bite,"
"I worry they do worse than biting!" he screamed inside his head while his face outside was the epitome of calmness. He entered the room to see several people inside, looking at him with scrutiny.
The one who sat on the most decorated chair he had ever seen, the leader most likely, spoke, "So, we had heard of your superior talent," Ryker didn't know if he was supposed to answer or not, but decided to take the next best course of action and close his mouth.
The man lightly chuckled at his expression. "Don't, worry, we won't harm you. Instead, we would like to ask you some questions?"
Ryker didn't see anything wrong with answering some questions, with maybe the exception of the question being too personal for his liking.
Seeing how he didn't disagree with the notion, the man began to ask his first question, "Are you planning to go to the capital city?" the question surprised him, judging by how some of the executives chuckling at him.
"We had expected you to do this. After all, with your talent, remaining in a city, even if it's a major one will stunt your growth in the long term. Instead, we would like to keep a close relationship, maybe having you as our supporter,"
Ryker's brows were raised at the suggestion, "Aren't I too weak and too low rank to actually be your supporter?" he pointed out. The man laughed lightly at him.
"For now, yes. But in the future, your strength and talent regarding the profession would likely surpass the people inside this building. We just want to invest in it before we can no longer invest in you anymore,"
Hearing what the man said, Ryker nodded slightly. While he could barely understand the reasoning, the benefits the man could offer were too much of a boon. He decided to get something from the meeting, something that would be a surprise tool for later.
"I don't mind, but first, I want you to do something for me," he said. When the president glared at him, he remained steadfast. After all, he had been in too much life and dangerous situations to care for something not threatening.
When he saw Ryker not being intimidated, the man sighed before asking, "So, what do you want?"
Ryker smiled before leaning towards his before began to tell him of his price. When they heard of his request, the president went silent. Seeing the man's reaction, Ryker watched patiently as he watched whether they would do it or not.
After some serious discussion, the man turned his head towards him, "Yes, we agree to your proposal. Don't worry, we likely can get it done this week. On the other hand, when are you planning to go to the capital city,"
"In the next week or so. I'm planning to go with a caravan heading there at the same time," he told the man honestly, seeing no reason to do so.
"Do you think you can raise your rank in the week?" the man asked. Normally, this will be something prosperous to ask, as even a raise of rank, even the two lowest ranks, is hard to achieve without spending a lot of time practicing said profession.
However, Ryker is no normal person and he has the advantage of having the Profound Scholar Scripture, hence he decided to agree on it.
"Yes, but I will need to practice some more," he said, making the rest look at him in shock, including the president. After all, he was just joking, not seeing how the young man would achieve that in such a short amount of time.
Seeing his serious look made the president realize the young man was serious. While he was not sure how the young man wanted to achieve that, he had the urge to help this young man just to see how he could perform the miracle.
Wanting to see it himself, the president asked, "What do you need?" Ryker had expected the question so he began to ask for a lot of things, most of them being cheap compared to what he could have asked.
Seeing him not demanding something crazy or beyond what they could afford, the president agreed to it immediately. After he was done with his demands, he then thought of something else.
"Also, I want most of the Grade 1 recipe, for well, any recipe you can get your hand off without getting into any trouble for yourselves,"
The president nodded. While they gave a lot of recipes, most of them are something that is not too useful for them and have plenty of copy off. "Wait until the day after tomorrow, then you will get what you ask for. As for the crazier demand, you have to wait until the appropriate moment, which will come soon in the next week."
