After Ryker and Shuri dealt with that mess, they decided to remain in the estate for a while. At least Shuri did. After all, she needed to prepare what she was going to bring with her when she joined him.
Even if a storage ring would allow her to store all her possessions, it is still wise to not take everything, aside from maybe clothes and some other personal objects.
As for Ryker, he went towards the Adventure Guild. He, after all, needs to make his own preparation, namely to learn more about the surrounding nations. He had already asked the other Genesis Source experts, along with the baron for what he knew, but some of the information from the Adventure Guild will be more detailed.
After all, while some of the nations, despite being the vassal of the same kingdom, didn't get along. While this was true even in the different branches of the Adventure Guild, they still exchange some information now and then despite the rivalry between them.
After all, while rivalry is accepted, in fact, it was encouraged to produce a more competitive environment, it was different when one side made the others suffer losses just to beat them. Once, a branch of an Adventure Guild sabotages one of the neighboring branches.
This resulted in the branch being destroyed and every person that played part in the sabotage being punished heavily by the Guild. This is one of the reasons why the information network of the Adventure Guild is more reliable than any other sources except for the 3 other Supreme Powers.
He had planned to meet up with the Vice-Leader that he had some interaction with. To his surprise, he was able to meet with the entire roster of the higher-ups of the Mariz City Adventure Guild.
While it was a surprise, it was a welcomed one. He proceeded to ask them questions regarding the other branches of the Adventure Guild, along with some of the more obscure information that was hard to get.
After he was done with his business, he decided to take on the harder mission offered, while offering half of the rewards to them, namely so he could test his strength. After all, normally the mission required one to be a Genesis Source expert before they were allowed to do it.
But, how could a small branch of the Adventure Guild in the Capital City of a Barony whose strongest experts were only at the Genesis Spring have such an expert who is not part of the higher-up?
If not for his strength being equal to them, they wouldn't even allowed him to get the job. In fact, they were glad for his presence, as it allowed the branch to produce some good results if they were able to complete the mission.
While most missions were commissions from the people, customers if you will, there are sometimes missions from the city or nation they are located at. Sometimes, they even get missions from the headquarters, though it would usually require multiple branches to complete the given mission as it is often huge and resource and labor-consuming.
If a branch or the adventurers to be exact completed any missions, while they will get rewards in the form of money and points, the branch they are under will also receive some points as well. The Adventure HQ point to be exact.
The Adventure HQ point is used by the branch of the Adventure Guild to attain resources from the headquarters or other branches. It can also be used to get some of the more expensive tools and equipment, which would make management of the branch easier and the capabilities of the branch will also increase.
That is why the branch encourages their adventurers while also attracting more talents to become adventurers under them. If the adventurers under them become stronger, they will also benefit from them too.
Of course, the point system also has the chance of being exploited, namely by making some easy missions and claiming it was a hard mission. While they would have to fork the resources to pay for the mission when completed, they will also be able to get Adventure HQ points.
However, the defect in the point system was able to be detected early on, allowing the Adventure Guild to fix it immediately. Namely, a full report of the mission needed to be submitted and confirmed by one of the higher-rank branches.
By using one of the higher-rank branches as a focal point to distribute Adventure HQ points, the main headquarters could easily check them, allowing them to spot any foul play by the branches. Of course, the system isn't perfect, some would naturally escape. But, most of the time, the one who tried such a thing would be detected and punished.
Also, if a member of the higher-rank branches is the one to allow such a thing to happen, the punishment he received would be more severe. That's why very few tried it nowadays, not wanting to receive the hammer that is Adventure Guild punishment.
As for Ryker, he had accepted two missions. One is to exterminate a Genesis Source beast near a Genesis Crystal mine. The place was one of the bigger mines that the Mariz Barony had but it was abandoned when the deposit became scarcer, making it not worth a while, especially when it was close to a forest filled with Wild Beast.
When a Genesis Source beast appeared in the vicinity, it was quickly abandoned as it was not worth it to fight the beast for mere scraps of Genesis Crystals. As for the second mission, it was to investigate a weird phenomenon.
The weird phenomena happened near a lake about 3 kilometers from the city. While it was not near the city, it was not far either. The lake seemed to let out mist at the most puzzling time, mostly at noon, which shows it was not natural in nature.
There had been countless speculations, from there being a powerful beast in the area to the presence of natural treasures. Many people had tried to investigate but none returned alive. When a Genesis Source expert went to investigate and didn't return, it was quickly considered to be not worth it and put as a very difficult mission, almost reaching the S-rank if not for the area not being close to the city and it showing no sign of getting closer to the city.
Ryker had been excited to get the mission. Because of his strength, most of the mission was something he could accomplish easily. While he was able to make easy money, it didn't help in challenging himself, allowing him to grow stronger in the process.
Only by accepting the more difficult mission would he be able to test himself and see if he grew strong enough to handle anything.
