The plump man led them to a room, a very spacious one at that, "The slave seemed to be given a good treatment," Ryker commented.
"Of course, if any of our slaves were sick, it meant we lost profits just from healing them or having them die on us. So we make sure that they get a clean place and are given enough food and water, nothing expensive, just enough that they won't be starved.
For our top-quality slaves, they were given the best treatment. Slaves were hard to get, but they were given to us by the city from debtors and criminals and on some rare occasions prisoners of war when the forces from the city head to the battlefield.
Even with all that, there were about 300 slaves come every month. Usually, we have around 250 or so at one time. So we don't have many top-quality slaves. Those are expensive to train and maintain, that's why their price is something very few could afford but they still sold,"
Hearing the explanation Ryker nodded. Instead of treating them like objects, the best way to think of them is treating them like a horse. A horse is expensive to keep but it offers many uses. While some of the slaves might be niche in their specialties, at least they were decent, or in the case of the top ones, very good at what they did.
"Ah, here she is," they spot a beautiful woman, with long blonde hair that reached her buttocks, mesmerizing green eyes like jade, and skin as white as snow. She is wearing a simple white dress, busy reading a book while standing.
"Era, come here," the plump man ordered, the blonde slave put down her book before coming towards them.
"This is Era, one of our more average servant slaves at the top quality. But while she is below the others in doing her job, she is a capable fighter, not to mention she had cultivation around the 2nd Stage Genesis Gathering. Not to mention she is also beautiful. If you want, she can serve you too," the man told them about her, treating it like he was selling them livestock.
"2nd Stage Genesis Gathering realm? Why didn't she be put as a battle slave?" Ryker questioned. While it is not strong, it is still about stronger than 80% of the city population.
"Most of our battle slaves have cultivation around the 5th Stage and above, our strongest battle slaves even have cultivation at the Genesis Formation. For her, who only reached the 2nd Stage, it's much better to train her as a servant slave.
The only reason she is considered a top quality slave is because she can be any of the three categories, making her a versatile slave capable of doing whatever you want," he explained.
Ryker nodded, 2nd Stage Genesis Gathering is considered to be below average. Still, she could handle any annoyance that tried to harm his siblings, plus, he could train her, maybe even raising her cultivation realm.
"How much for her?" Ina asked. While their current money is in infinity, from what she had seen from the inside of their treasury, Ryker would likely only use the money they earned from his selling to the store and mission earnings.
"Her price is 80 gold coins," the plump man said. While it may seem like a lot, training them costs about 10 to 20 gold coins, while maintaining them, from making sure they were given enough food with good nutrients to keep them healthy, will cost them up to another 3 gold coins, a month.
He had been ready to haggle with the young man, the price he put is the most expensive, expecting them to get the price to drop to 60 or so gold coins when Ryker tossed him a pouch.
"All 80 gold coins are inside, please check first if you have any doubts," hearing him say it, the plump man looked into the pouch before giving it to his man. Checking it in front of customers would make them look like he didn't trust his customers.
His man would check it, and if there were some discrepancies in the amount of gold coins then they would ask for the rest. After the man nodded, the plump man smiled.
"Considered you already made the payment, please follow me," the man said once again, prompting the two, along with the slave to follow him.
They walked until they reached the plump man's office, the man letting them enter. He then proceeds to grab a contract, a collar, and a token.
"This is a Slave Contract, with this the contract between the master and slave would be formed. The contract is used to establish the link between the Slave Token and Slave Collar. If the slave misbehaved or threatened their master, the master could use the Slave Token to make the slave suffer, the collar giving the appropriate punishment based on how much the master wanted to punish their slaves.
To establish the contract, the slave needs to put their blood into the token and the collar. For the contract, the master needs to write their name and put some of their blood. You can put more names into the contract, allowing more people to be the master.
Anyone who becomes a master would able to control the slave though the token is needed for them to control the slave," explaining everything, the plump man then put the contract in front of Ryker and the token and collar in front of Era.
Quickly, drops of blood dripped on the three objects, before a connection could be felt by Ryker. He could see a link between the token and collar, while the contract acts as a medium.
He then had Ina drop her blood, allowing both of them the ability to control the slave. After that is done the plump man smiled at them and asked, "Dear customer, considering you bought a slave today, do you wish to see the main attraction for the auction, it's for free but you have to see her from a distance,"
Ryker was about to decline when Ina replied, "Sure, though we might not bid for her, we will come during the auction. On that note, when will the auction be held?"
"The auction will be held on the 1st day of next week, the final week of Bariki. If you wish to see the slave follow me," the group once again followed the man.
As they entered another room, they saw a beautiful woman with with dress, her long brown hair cascading her back. Her other features were harder to make out due to the distance but nevertheless, the woman is absolutely beautiful.
After looking at the slave, Ryker decided to leave, already done with what they come here for. Soon, the couple, with their new slave following them walked towards the entrance.
As they walked, Ryker decided to ask Ina, "Why do you want to see that slave? We already bought one,"
"Just to see why they put her as the main attraction. She might be an important figure that fell from grace or something," Ina shrugged, her action had been done on a whim.
"Let's talk about her then, Era," Ryker called out, the slave girl looked at her with obedience.
"We are living inside an inn with several small children. Your job is to watch over them and make sure they are happy and safe. Tomorrow we will take some missions so you need to keep an eye on them, understood?" the girl nodded hearing the young man's experience.
"Good, now let's deal with this group of pests," Ryker sighed, several thugs already blocking their way.
