It was not until he felt the chilly wind against his skin that Lucian realized he had fainted.
Though his body was too weak to move, his mind was still awake.
Despite knowing where he was, Lucian didn't dare to open his eyes. He thought lying lifeless would help him soothe the pain in his heart. His lack of consciousness would prevent him from accepting the fact that Ariana is not present.
Lucian thought he would stand for a few days until Arthur came up with any clue, but he was wrong. Not being close to Ariana was killing him and he felt like his heart was being crushed mercilessly.
He realized after spending that one day apart from her how much he needed her to keep him from going crazy.
Akin to a refreshing breeze, he sensed that Ariana's absence would cause his heart to progressively grow frigid and lifeless. And it was when he was slowly succumbing to his agony that he heard the same voice.
