Veronica yelped as she pulled Lucian by his arm and made him face her. Her bloodshot eyes looked at him with anticipation, waiting for him to acknowledge where she stood in his life.
"You were supposed to take me as your Luna, not her... She. isn't. even. capable" Veronica wasn't holding her displeasure back and kept spouting whatever came into her mind.
She hated the woman for whom Lucian decided to leave her, going against his father's will.
"I told you it wasn't my consent. It was my father who took decisions for me but not anymore" Lucian snapped jerking off her hand that held him.
Lucian never agreed to this alliance which was forced on him by his father. He thought Veronica was a perfect match for him. She had every quality within her that a Luna should carry but his father forgot that his son was born with a chosen mate, the one moon goddess had destined for him.
Veronica's face crumpled at his words. It didn't look like Lucian was ever going to change his mind. But neither she would ever let anyone be his Luna. That position next to him was made for her and she would do anything to eliminate his so-call mate.
"Do you think, this human girl would be accepted by your parents" Veronica scoffed knowing how no one will ever come to accept a weak human as their Luna, not even his parents.
"That's not your problem to worry about. Even if no one accepts her, she will always be my partner, my mate, my companion for life" Lucian declared making Veronica even more angry but she didn't let it appear on her face.
"But what if that girl comes to find who you really are? Do you think she will still stay with you" Veronica's provoking words silenced Lucian.
A deep frown marred his forehead as he watched her smirk at him. "She will leave you the second she will witness the beast inside you" she further declared.
Lucian eyed Veronica with a murderous glare. He just wanted to pull that tongue of hers out from her mouth making her speechless for her entire life.
"Get out" came his words after a long pause. He didn't want her to stay her even for a second or he might lose his patience and end up harming her somehow.
Veronica noticed the rage in his eyes and it made her recall the moment she had almost lost her life a few minutes ago. She didn't want to die not unless she kills that human.
Lucian was hers and she would never let anyone take him away from her. With this thought, she glance at him a last time before she turned and walked out of the room.
Walking a few distances Veronica suddenly stopped when she sensed a pair of eyes staring her way. Looking in that direction she found Ariana standing next to her door looking at her with confusion.
The moment their eyes met, Veronica felt her blood boil with rage and she balled her palm into a tight fist. 'Only a few more days. I will make sure you will be nowhere to be seen' With that determination, Veronica spare a final glance at her before she stormed away leaving the mansion.
Ariana on the other hand couldn't understand why Veronica was so bitter toward her. Watching her leave, she then turned her eyes towards the study room's door and her heart sank.
'What did they both talk about and why did she look so displeased' her mind kept thinking about it the moment she heard Lucian had called Veronica to his study.
Ariana didn't want to judge them but she couldn't stop herself from thinking about what relationship they shared.
While she was busy standing there racking her brain, the door of the study room clicked open and Lucian stepped out of it.
Snapping out of her thoughts she met his blues orbs that were already staring her way and all of a sudden she became cautious.
The anger she noticed in his eyes was quickly replaced by tenderness making her heart skip a beat. She wanted to look away but she couldn't, as if the stare he emitted toward her had cast a spell on her entire body.
Lucian felt all the rage inside his body dissipate the moment his eyes fell on the girl who stood on the other side of the hallway. The second their eyes met he felt like a heavy stone was lifted from his heart and he wanted to run and engulf her in his embrace.
Composing his appearance, Lucian slowly approached the girl who had forgotten to blink the second their eyes locked and stood there without moving a bit.
His heart swelled with happiness as he could see the effect of his presence he had on his mate, Ariana.
Being the Alpha of the Willow Forest pack, Lucian was always termed as the cold and indifferent leader. No one was ever able to look straight into his eyes as his chilling gaze would burn them alive and the enemies he fought with thought twice before getting into his bad books.
Lucian had always respected his father following his every footstep, emerging as the strongest Alpha of his time.
He even agreed on getting engaged to Veronica who was the daughter of one of his generals Uranus whom he assumed to be the perfect Luna for his pack.
Everything was fine until one day a beautiful face appeared in his dream and it was the moment he realized she was the one for him, his mate.
Lucian didn't break the stare and stopped in front of her. She was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen and just having her by his side fulfilled his life.
There was no way he would let her leave him. He would do everything in his power to keep his beast from appearing in front of her. His identity would never be known by her.
"Ariana" even her name sounded like a melody to her ears, she thought and hummed.
"Hmm"
Ariana was so busy savoring his beauty, she forgot to see the corner of Lucian's lips curled up in amusement.
"How long do you wish to stand here? Aren't you hungry?" Lucian asked and it was then she snapped out of her trance, returning back to reality.
Awkwardness engulfed her entire being and she quickly moved her eyes from him feeling embarrassed by her reaction.
She had been staring at him like a smitten teenager, forgetting about what would Lucian think of her. She wasn't a shameless person but after meeting him she started acting like one.
"I... thought... I" Ariana began scratching her head trying to come up with an alibi that would save her from this awkward situation but she wasn't that smart enough to lie right in anyone's face.
Lucian wanted to pinch her cheeks finding her adorable as she tried to cover up her embarrassment.
He was about to reach his hand and touch her cheeks when Fret showed up and they heard him say," The dinner is ready"
Ariana who was on the verge of getting collapsed finally heaved out a breath and looked at Fret with a thankful expression who appeared to be her savior at this moment.
Noticing the brightness in her eyes, Lucian glared at Fret. Her sparkling gaze was only meant to look at him and not anyone else.
Fret who had been standing a few distances away from them felt the chills run down his spine when he noticed his master's deadly glare.
'What did I do now' he thought and quickly lowered his head before turning and leaving from there.
"I -I think we should eat our dinner" Ariana mumbled and quickly took the chance to escape, walking as fast as she could leaving Lucian behind.

[Dining Area]
As promised Lucian had his dinner with Ariana. He noticed Ariana wasn't picky when it came to food and ate almost everything.
'Plus point' he thought as he watched her finish the dessert which was served after they finished the main course.
"How was your day? Did you find yourself comfortable here" Lucian asked all of sudden.
Though he had Fret updating him on everything, still, he wanted to hear it from her. He wanted to make her feel at home so that she wouldn't think of leaving him.
Ariana stopped eating and looked his way. His eyes hopefully waiting for her reply.
What should she answer him that she spent her entire day missing her old home or should say that kept thinking about him every now and then? Yes, she was slowly getting used to this new place, but she couldn't stop herself from missing the people she grew up watching.
Slowly bobbing her head, she answered," I am getting used to my new surrounding but then there comes a point when I miss being at my old place." she didn't hide what she felt. It was better to be upfront with him since he was her guardian.
A frown marred his forehead after he listened to her. She was still missing her old house. Why? Did she find everything she needed in his house or there was still something he missed in providing her?, Lucian couldn't help but think.
