Chapter-40: From the spot.
In the morning, before the sun rises a car sound came from the house. June woke up due to that sound and quickly came out from her room to see who it was. She opened the door and saw that James was going from there but where he was going. James was driving the car and he took his car to that location where it all happened. He parked his car on the side and saw that place, there were sliding marks on the road and there were some holes on the road. He stepped out of the car and stood there for some time. He was standing there only and looking around.
[Long and relief breath]
"Who was he and what did they want?"
He was talking to himself and remembered the time when those people were shooting at him and he was hiding himself behind his car.
[Groaning]
In his mind, the face of that man was coming who took her away from him and while standing there, he saw his blood marks on the road. He bent down on his knees and touched that blood mark on the road. He was still remembering that time when that man was taking his Ember away from him.
He was taking heavy breaths in anger and he was crushing his teethes. In anger he was roaring and he put his hand on his back side and took out his gun. His hands were shaking due to anger, he was still imaging those people there and they were still shooting at him.
[Roaring]
Suddenly, he turned back and aimed his gun but there was GK and he was shocked to see him like this. … James was also shocked to see him and he was taking heavy breaths and put his gun down. The sun has risen. While remembering that time James forgot everything and cleaned his face.
GK knew why he was there and put his hand on his shoulder.
"I know my friend… I know what you have lost. She was like a child to me also and I still remember that time when she used to play in my hand."
His words were painful and it was sympathy for James. He stood on his feet, he knew that sitting over there will not give them anything, they have to find those people who had done this. GK explained to him and told him that they have to go back to the office and deal with the case.
… "Let's go."
This time GK was driving the car and James was sitting on his side. He wasn't able to drive his car in this condition and GK took him to the office. Over there, all the officers were standing from their seats when they saw him back at work. He entered his office and took his seat in his cabin; he turned his head left and there was a picture of Ember. She was laughing in the picture.
GK who was looking at him asked him about the case and told him that they had found many things in the case. Meanwhile, Amanda and Albert both came there and when they saw him, they were very happy and they quickly entered his cabin to express to them how much happy they were.
All officers were there and they came inside that cabin. After talking to him, Albert told James that he had the heart of a lion which could handle anything. He also asks him if they can talk about the case. [Pause]
"Yes!! Tell me what you all had found till yet?"
They show him the footage which they found from the spot and from different locations. Albert told him about the bullets and the details of those guns which they had used.
While looking at the footage, James noticed that they don't have the footage of the location from where the cars disappeared and they aren't able to find those cars. While watching the footage he remembered those cars which they used. [Remembering] One by one all the images of those cars were coming in his mind and he asked Tim to increase the image size of those cars. He increased the size of the images and James realized that these cars were not those cars which he had seen.
… "These are not those cars in which they took her… they had changed the car. Really smart."
[Surprised]
They all look at each other faces and GK asks him how can he say that because they had seen those cars in the footage and they had followed the route which they had used through cameras. He was right but James smiled and told them that he also shot at them and some of his bullets struck their cars but in the footage all the cars were fine. … They did not think about that and they checked the footage again and James was right. But on the first footage they saw that the cars were bullet marks but on the other side of the cameras, cars were fine.
But due to this, they had a question in their mind and they wanted to ask him.
"James, then what happened there?"
He said that to find the answer, they have to go to that location where it all happened again. All team members came there and stood there, James was looking around and explaining to them what happened.
"I was hiding behind my car and I ran towards that side but a bullet struck me from behind. They all took her and left me over there."
After saying this, he walked towards the turn from where they disappeared from his eyes. They were looking around in search of cameras and they found the camera a little bit away from the turn.
"Over there…"
There was a distance between the turn and camera and the direction of the camera was on the other side. He asks to measure the distance between the turn and camera.
They measured the distance and found that the distance is enough for three cars. Officers were surprised because from location, he found a small space and James asked officers to ask questions to those people who used to run their shops near the area. Officers spread around and ask questions to all the shopkeepers about the cars and people in those cars.
Officers were asking questions and GK and James were standing there and talking alone on the side. GK asked him about the medicines which they had to take according to the doctors but James smiled and said that he had already taken. But GK knew his friend more than anyone and he gave him a bottle of water and medicine.
"I think you should take it."
[Happy smile]
James took that medicine and his officers were busy asking questions. Summer was also there and she was roaming along with Connor. In an innocent voice she said that James sir is really good and they had still learned many things from him.
[Funny laughter]
After having a question answered with shopkeepers, they all came back and told him what they found. All the shopkeepers said only one thing and that was three cars were standing there and suddenly, other three cars came there and changed their cars and ran away from there. … James was thinking about that and he found that he was right, GK asked them about Ember and they said then that shopkeepers had seen a small girl with them and she was screaming and crying.
"Ok!!"
That time, James was looking down, trying to find tire marks and any kind of other evidence which can help them in solving the case.
"James, they said that…"
They saw that he was searching for something around that place. Officers were trying to understand what he was doing and James found a piece of cloth on the grass side. … He took that piece of cloth and remembered that Ember had worn that colored cloth. Officers were looking at him and James was back towards them.
[Wondering]
James was standing silently without moving.
GK- "James, are you ok??"
James- "I am fine."
He turns back and gives that piece of cloth to him and asks him about the details of the cloth from Albert as soon as possible.
James is back from the hospital and he is investigating the case… this information was given to Harry and he told Ronnie about James. When Ronnie got the news, he assured him that he can't do anything because they had already sent a picture to him.
After talking to Harry, Ronnie called Chris and told him that James is investigating from the beginning so he has to be careful because James had his picture and officers were finding him around the city.
After completing a survey in that location, they went ahead but suddenly, James stopped and realized that if they had left their cars over there then who took it from there? Officers knew the answer and James asked them to bring footage of other cameras of that location. Slowly, he realized that the case is not simple just like before because he was attacked by a masked man and they were led by someone else.
