ONE THING I ACTUALLY APPRECIATE FROM ALL THEY LET US HAVE in here, is the access to what's happening in our respective worlds while we aren't alive anymore. And many things happened on earth, although the time there passes slower than here. Like, some years ago, I turned on the TV to see what was happening in Europe, and Queen Elizabeth from the UK had just died. The only bad thing about dying while you are old, is that you will have an old appearance when you became Makyan.
As I died at 24, I have a youthful appearance. And it's kind of melancholic to see how many young-looking people are here. Lots of born-human kids a lot younger than me. It's really sad.
When I turned the television today, everyone around the world was celebrating the final of the Football World Cup of 2026 and the South American country that had finally conquered their 6th trophy. I was never a fan of sports, but it's cool to see that at least such an event can bring the countries together for at least a short while.
Some time ago there also a pandemic of a virus called COVID-19 that brought a lot of humans to Kath'aer. All over earth, thousands of people died every single day. And it was especially hard in my dear Italy, and in China. It took lots of kids and elders as well. And it kept going for about 5 years.
But that isn't important to me anymore. I'm long dead. And I'm a Makyan now, one more soul in the demension of the death.
Our weeks in Kath'aer have 10 days, and our months have 50 days and 5 weeks each, every year has 15 months, meaning that the years contain 750 days each. And according to the Athwyn Treaty, this was also a system created by the damned previous High Commander. Just as he also, somehow, manipulated the seasons so they would be able to cover those 750 yearly days.
With winter being the longest and taking the first two and last three months of the year. Spring taking the 3rd, 4th and 5th months. Summer taking the 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th. And autumn taking the 10th, 11th, and 12th months.
The weekly days are being all named after gems stones (yes, the dude wasn't creative at all): 1st weekly day is Ruby, 2nd is Diamond, 3rd is Amethyst, 4th is Emerald, 5th is Opal, 6th is Topaz, 7th is Aquamarine, 8th is Sapphire, the 9th is Turquoise, and the 10th and last day of the week is Moonstone. Yes, we do have weekend and they last four days, while the other 6 are working days. And they are Sapphire, Turquoise, Moonstone, and Ruby, respectively.
Now the 15 months are inspired in… you can guess. Say the stupidest thing you can think off. Yes. Exactly.
Colors.
You don't have any idea of how hard I laughed when I first learned this shit. Seriously. How stupid can Wiryn be? It isn't hard to chose a good name for a damn month. It's not a useless matter, it's important, come on. If he was so bad at it, he could have given this task to a creative soul because he definitely lacked that.
I still don't get with Khystian, the current HC, didn't change that if he has the power to do it. Maybe he left it like that so everyone can remember how silly his antecedent was. Who knows?
But if it was me, I would definitely have changed it.
Okay, it's useless to dwell on that. Let me tell you about it. At least he could think of 15 different colors, which I wouldn't be able to.
1st month of the year is Lavender, 2nd is Indigo, both shades of purple but the first is a lighter tone while the later is a darker one. 3rd is Pink, 4th is Gold, 5th is Salmon, the last being a lighter shade of red. Then we have the 6th month that is called Green, then the 7th is Lime, 8th is Olive, and the 9th is Cyan, the first three being different shades of green, while the last is a lighter shade of blue. We have Crimson as the 10th, Orange as the 11th, and the 12th is Chocolate. Lastly, 13th is Snow, 14th is Navy, and the 15th is Blue.
Did you get it? The dumbass chose the colors according to the seasons of each month. The first two and last three having colors of the winter, from 3rd to 5th we have the spring colors, then the summer colors from 6th to 9th, and autumn's from 10th to 12th.
Let's go over them from 1st to 15th. Lavender, Indigo, Pink, Gold, Salmon, Green, Lime, Olive, Cyan, Crimson, Orange, Chocolate, Snow, Navy, and Blue.
Yes, and it doesn't stop there. No.
Wiryn made sure that each day would last 48 hours, meaning that each year has 36K hours. And he also made sure that the sun would come out at 5h, and the moon would take it's place at 23h. Again, he controlled it so he would satisfy himself because the Athwyn Treaty also says he always preferred the moon and the night sky instead of the daytime.
Not surprisingly he made so the sun would only stay up in the sky for 19 hours, whereas the moon would spend 29 hours up there. How eccentric is that? He did the same with the seasons, since he was a winter person and made so the winter could last for over 5 of the 15 months of the year.
He was doing personal choices to satisfy himself when he should be thinking of everyone else. I'm glad he was overthrown, since he clearly wasn't fit to lead Kath'aer.
And after Khystian took over as the High Commander, he made the years be recounted from the beginning, to sign that things would change. Although they didn't really change, we are now on the 19697 year of the new age.
Now I can say that I came here in a Moonstone day. It was the 10th day of Crimson, in 19495. At 202 years ago, precisely. And it was the beginning of the autumn season.
Oh, and I only know the reasons behind all of this and their names thanks to the Athwyn Treaty. Everybody else is pretty much clueless about who the High Commanders are, and why our weekdays and months have such weird names, or why our days and years last longer than in the worlds we lived before, or even why the seasons don't last an equal amount of time. Or even why the years count was re-started thousands of years ago. They keep us all in the dark.
Not me. Not anymore.
And it's incredibly annoying how most people don't really mind it, just because they are already dead. But it's not like we aren't living. This is pretty much a life after death since we can do everything the living can, except for getting pregnant and creating life, and dying.
There's no poverty here, however there are classes and the people who live kind of normally, and the rich who live extravagantly in luxury. People who work for people. Most of them are those who were entrepreneurs when they were still alive, since that's they area of expertise.
As I said, working days and weekends off exist for a reason. We all have work and a salary of monthly glass stones. If you are one of the bosses, you get more money, and if you are on the underworking class, you get paid less, but enough to live comfortably. After all, since you are dead and is unable to create life, you don't need to bother with you or your wife getting pregnant and stuff like that. Although some adults do adopt the kids that died young and all.
