"SO, YOU ARE NOT ENGAGED?"
I glared at my mom. "No!"
She looked disappointed, "You should be. Come on, I want more grandchildren, Elizabeth-Freya. You have to marry and give me more!"
Can she hear herself? "Marie is literally pregnant. In about three months you will get one more granddaughter, so feel satisfied with that. Don't expect anything from me!"
"We want black-haired great-grandchildren, dear," grandma Scarlett added, backing her daughter-in-law for once. "You can't stay just having those flings, you know? You should meet someone, date, get married and add more children in the family."
"And keep our name tradition," dad added.
I chuckled bitterly, "That ain't happening. Even if I one day get married and have children, they will all have names that starts with Z. Don't expect that stupid thing from me, because it's not going to happen." Now I'm frustrated. "And you should be on my side here," I told grandma and she bit her bottom lip.
"But you don't even try to fall in love, babe," she said.
To my dismay, Dean, who seemed to be way too drunk for my safety, chuckled and gave me a look, "She isn't able to do that, grandma. Because she's-" I threw a bread at his face.
"Dean, you fucking asshole. Shut up, damn it. Can't you keep a secret? What's your problem?"
"What? If you don't say anything they will keep getting on your nerves. We both know the reason," he said, very much drunk, and ate the bread I threw at his face. "Hm, thank you, Lizzy. This is delicious."
When I looked around, everyone was staring at me, even my grandparents seemed shocked. "What does he mean by that, Elizabeth-Freya? Do you have some problem?"
Choi Jung-won smirked, "Are you really a psychopath unable to have feelings?" Is he really going to go there?
I held another bread, "Do you want to have a taste of it on your beautiful face too, Choi? I don't mind throwing at you."
"So, you think I have a beautiful face?"
What's with the condescending smile? "I didn't say that."
"You did!" Grandma Alice exclaimed.
I glared at her, "What's up with you today, grandma Alice? Are you drunk too? Because since I stepped inside this house you've been exposing me non-stop. I'm going to get mad if you keep doing that!"
She recoiled herself, "I'm just trying to help you."
"Please, don't!" Then I ignored all of them and proceeded to eat. As quick as I'm done with this, I'll be able to leave. After all, the agreement with my grandparents was that I had to eat with them.
To my dismay, when I looked up to Choi Jung-won, he was literally mimicking all I was doing. Moving the way I was moving. Eating was I was eating. Drinking when I was drinking. All of that while staring at my soul with a soft smirk tattooed on his perfect face.
"Are you picking a fight with me, asshole?" I hissed frustrated.
He blinked, "What am I doing?"
I clenched my hands around the tableware, "Stop mimicking me, damn it. It's annoying. Can't you be more original? You are doing on purpose to get on my nerves."
"Is it working?" He grinned arching one eyebrow.
When I didn't answer, my dad faked a cough and I glared at him. "How did you two met?"
My eyes went to him and when I looked at his, they were already on me. "Some days ago, I woke up early and as none of you were awake, and you told us that we could go everywhere we wanted, I went to see the lake, to see if it was already frozen. I saw her there. She was alone ice-skating, and singing to the songs that she put to play. So, I sat at the bay and watched her enjoying herself."
He isn't going to tell them how he caught the miserable sight of me crying my ass off, is he? Although as he's such an asshole, I wouldn't be that surprised.
He licked his lips and my eyes went to them, making me feel breathless again. "When she came to the land again, she saw me, we talked a bit in Korean, since she probably didn't think I spoke English and then she shared the sandwiches she had with me. She told me about some… things about someone she used to know, and then the guy came out of the house, I mistook them as her fiancée, said some things and left."
"Some very unpleasant things!" I added clenching my jaw, and trying not to show my relief because he changed a bit the story so I wouldn't be embarrassed. I still hate him though.
He rolled his shoulders, "She didn't knew who I actually was, that's why she was so surprised earlier. And as you can see, we don't enjoy each other's companies. At least, I don't enjoy hers. She's full of herself, condescending, rude, arrogant, sarcastic, annoying, and vicious. A narcissistic psychopath."
I grinned, "Better to be a psycho than bipolar!"
Choi Jung-won bit his bottom lip annoyed, "For the last time, I am not bipolar, Freya!" Again, my name sounded like a curse on his tongue. A very charming and attractive curse.
The fifth man who came with him who looked like Choi Dong-hyuk twin, leaned forward with a grin on, "So, you are 24 years old, Miss Freya?" But this time he asked in Korean.
Biting the insides of my cheeks, still deeply stressed out because of the insufferable asshole in front of me, I took about a minute before answering him. "Yes, I am. What's your name? Are you and Sir Choi Dong-hyuk twins?"
He smiled, "We are. I'm Choi Min-hyuk," even the names are similar. "Jung-won's fourth uncle. It seems like my nephew is only two years older than you."
"So? With all due respect, Sir Choi Min-hyuk, but I couldn't care less about this rude ass you have as a nephew."
However, instead of disappearing, his smile grew wider. "You are surprisingly fluent in Korean, just like a native. Have you been there? How did you learn and get so good at it?"
"I've been five times in South Korean, to go to kpop concerts of my favorite groups there. All in vacation while I was in the US. But I never spend more than two weeks each time I went there. I began to learn Korean when I was 13, because I thought it would be a way to get closer to my ice-skating partner, but it was useless since, again, he hated me."
