In the midst of their duel, a powerful surge of magic rippled through the air, catching both leaders off guard. The source of the disturbance was a convergence of energy—ancient ley lines beneath the battlefield were awakening, responding to the immense magical energies being unleashed.
It was like the land itself seemed to sense the intensity of the conflict and rebelled against the violence it bore witness to.
As the opposing forces pushed against each other, a powerful surge of energy surged through the ground, causing the earth to crack and groan. Suddenly, a deep chasm tore open the battlefield, dividing the land in two with a mighty fissure.
The hole that formed was massive, spanning hundreds of meters in length and width, and it seemed to stretch down into the very depths of the world.
Caught off guard by this sudden upheaval, many warriors on both sides lost their footing and stumbled toward the edge. The battlefield's chaos shifted from a brutal clash to a frantic struggle for survival. Some managed to stop just short of the edge, barely escaping the pit's grasp, while others were not so fortunate.
The unfortunate soldiers at the forefront fell into the dark abyss below, disappearing from sight.
General Arion was among those who found himself dangerously close to the gaping chasm. With a fierce determination, he fought to keep his balance, refusing to let the chaotic forces of nature claim him. His feet slipped on loose gravel, and he could feel the pull of the void beneath him.
But summoning every ounce of his strength, he managed to find a solid footing and pulled himself back from the brink.
From his precarious position, General Arion looked across the battlefield. It was a haunting sight. The land's division had created an unnatural divide between the warring factions. Many soldiers were now trapped on the other side of the chasm, separated from their comrades.
A few brave souls tried to leap over the chasm, attempting to rejoin their allies, but not all succeeded. The distance was simply too great for most.
'Oh no! This is not good,' General Arion thought.
Just then, he sighted the vampire leader at the other end.
"I gave you a chance to sit down and discuss this like normal people but you chose violence, so now be ready for what's to come," the Vampire leader said.
The General just stood there quietly thinking about what his opponent had just said. 'What's to come?' he murmured.
Meanwhile, the mages and sorcerers among the ranks saw the immense power emanating from the depths of the chasm. Drawn to the source, they attempted to harness this energy to their own advantage. Bolts of arcane power crisscrossed the battlefield, shooting from the mages' outstretched hands toward the hole's depths.
But the chasm seemed to have a mind of its own, absorbing some spells while reflecting others back at the casters.
Amidst the chaos, the clash of armies, and the deathly allure of the abyss, something extraordinary began to happen. The energy emanating from the chasm intensified, its power reaching a crescendo that seemed to defy the natural order. The very fabric of reality around the battlefield began to waver, and arcane symbols appeared in the air, intermingling with the spell casting.
Both commanders and their troops sensed the growing anomaly, and for a moment, the battle came to an uneasy halt. Fear and uncertainty crept into the eyes of even the most hardened warriors. But before anyone could react, a blinding burst of light erupted from the depths of the chasm, engulfing the entire battlefield in an ethereal glow.
The ground shook violently, and a shockwave radiated from the center of the chasm, knocking soldiers off their feet. A deafening roar echoed through the air, and an otherworldly force lifted combatants into the air, suspending them in mid-battle.
For a surreal moment, time seemed to freeze, and both armies were caught in this strange, suspended state.
The vampire leader took this as an opportunity to execute his plan.
Then, as abruptly as it began, the energy subsided, and everything fell silent. The chasm had vanished, leaving behind only scorched earth in its place. The land was no longer divided, and the deep hole was gone as if it had never existed.
Confused and disoriented, the surviving soldiers from both sides looked around, trying to make sense of what had just happened. The battle had come to an abrupt end, and the warriors, now spared from the pit's grasp, stood in an uneasy truce.
That was when General Arion noticed that the Vampire lander and like a handful of his army were nowhere to be found.
The rest of the vampire army began to retreat General Arion and his troops tried to chase after them, but their speed was no match for them.
"Shit! They got away," General Arion lamented.
-"Sir, I think they have something off their sleeve because the Vampires as we all know do not ever run away from a fight and not especially one that was brought to them," one of General Arion Sergeants stated.
"So what do you suggest we do? Because we can not return back with their leader's head, the school won't like that," General Arion said.
Before the Sergeant could respond, they were distracted by one of their army who was calling out to General Arion.
"Sir! Sir! We have one of them here and he is badly injured," the soldier called out.
Immediately, General Arion ran in the soldier's direction. As he reached there, he saw a male vampire laying on the floor and one of his legs was half disconnected from his body.
"I thought they could heal very fast?" General Arion inquired.
-"Yes sir, but this wound seems to be really bad and his healing process is really slow," the soldier responded.
"Well that is a benefit for me," General Arion added. "I will ask you this question only once and I want an answer immediately."
"What are your people planning to do? Where did your leader disappear to?" General Arion inquired, his voice echoing through the eerie silence that hung over the aftermath of the battle.
